I appreciate the years Kirk Ferentz and his staff have put in, however, he needs to retire or be let go. Iowa Football is no longer fun to watch and I certainly can't brag about it to my relatives who live in other states. It's turned into a joke.
Until a change is made, I will no longer watch the team nor will I purchase ANY football tickets. Damn the economics of it, we need a fresh start and become a player on the national stage. Mediocrity is for people with no goals or aspirations.
Are you one of those people too?

Good morning IMCC965.
Thanks for support and for taking the time to write and express your concern.

Last Saturday was embarrassing…for our student-athletes, coaches, fans…and athletic director. I've not seen or felt a game like that during my nine seasons with the Hawkeyes. We have three games left to overcome the feeling lingering from last weekend in Minnesota.

Despite Saturday, I continue to have full confidence in Kirk, his coaches, and our players. It's difficult to understand, but the same team that was overtaken by the Gophers was on the other side of the coin a week earlier in Kinnick against Northwestern. I look forward to re-grouping and trying to get the bad taste out of minds.

We certainly don't want to lose you as a fan/supporter of the Hawkeyes. We'll work tirelessly to gain you back.

I think BG's response is candid, it does not spare the coaches or athletes, and he would be a dam fool to say anything other than "I support our head coach." What would happen if he would say in public, "Yeah. I, too, am disturbed about KF's performance. Let's get together for a beer and talk about how to handle it." Geez. Are you really that dumb?
 
He should have said, at this point it is more likely kfz will fire me, than I will Fire him.

Solid answer by Barta. We have not been hammered like that in any games in the last decade.

I know fans are down on KF, but we usually hang tough, even in losses. This was an exception. Not much he can say to satisfy the angry mob right now...
 
I agree. It was a solid response. I've seen much mushier ones than that, even from Barta.

Cripes, how about just two weeks ago in Maryland??? Did Gary successfully block that game from his memory? If so, I wish he would share his secret because I would like to erase that abomination of a game from my memory.
 
I have had several email exchanges with Barta and that looks just like all of them except the one where he told me a bold-faced lie. It's a typical Barta response IMO. No reason to believe it was false.

What are we boycotting?

Do you really think an email from Joe fan matters to any ad outside of a D2 school? I am guessing the office clerk has a busy Monday following up with the message board posters that send emails.

If you are not a high level donor you are talking with his office clerk. If you are a high level donor you are getting a phone call from barta.

Nobody is boycotting anything. Unless you were to tell us you were boycotting reading comprehension. I simply supported the fact that it was likely a real Barta email as I have had several. That was the only purpose of my response.

So, are you suggesting that nobody emails GB to express an opinion? That seems like the perfect solution to me!
 
I work in the world of communications and I am strongly guessing the majority of responses from Gary are indeed from the fingertips of his staff and not Gary. If Gary were to sit down and respond to every email he received that would be a fulltime gig in itself ... He has people who lend support for items like this ... Not saying Gary doesn't personally respond to some messages ... just not the majority ...

Exactly. My guess is Barta writes up one generic email like this and sends it out to his staffers who then personalize it ever so slightly and send it out with Barta's name on it. There's no way he personally responds to every Joe Q Fan...only the major donors.
