Saw Fran at the Valley game tonight just wondering

Your thoughts on Peter Jok. I've seen him play twice now this season. I did not see him play before the knee surgeries. He has the body and is a decent player but I have to tell you I just don't get it. This is a big gamble imo. I know he is only a junior but for those that have seen him play I would be interested to know what you think.

First off EP thanks for the heads up when you are in my neck of the woods. If Jok gets healthy he will be legit. ITF!!!! I trust Fran.

The general story with him for some time now is that he rarely looks like anything special in CIML games, but in AAU he looks awesome.

I hope he was in town for something else because he didin't play that much or show that much when he did. Granted Ft Dodge is horrible. Maybe he'll be a stud but he isn't there yet.

And that would have me concerned.

Why? Plenty of guys (including Woodbury) play much better in AAU than they do in high school games. Part of it is the elevated competition (with guys getting pushed harder), and the other part is more talented teammates (meaning nobody faces the kind of defensive pressure they see in high school games).

How bout a scouting report on Jok?

How tall is he? What is his frame like? Long arms? Quickness? Ball-handling?
What position did he play? Can he shoot from the arc? Inside?
Is he healthy? Done growing?

What about Abrahamson? How did he look?

I know that Jok is remotely related to Luol Deng, who just keeps getting better and better and growing into his body well into his mid-20's. Used to look skinny and gangly, but now is strong, long and still quick, with a great shooting stroke.

There really is only one reason why it happens like that. In regular high-school games the better players command a double team or even triple but the competition in aau is so good you can't afford to double team because all players are good. And players like woodbury are hard 1 on 1.

Exactly. And please, make another post ASAP. Your current post count scares me

Recovery from the surgery is taking longer than I think he expected and he's basically playing at about 50-60% right now. When healthy Pete is special.

Jok just doesn't have the explosive lift off the floor he has when totally healthy. His jump shot on the pull up is still exceptionally smooth. He can post up well for his size and has good range on his jump shot. I don't know if he is a legitimate 3 point shooter, but like I said he has a nice stroke with a high release.

He is a legitimate 6'5" and probably close to 200 pounds.

As long as he does eventually recover from the surgery, I hope Iowa gets him.
Maybe he will be under the radar a bit more due to the knee issues, which could give Iowa a bit of an edge. Is that team playing well? Jeff has Abrahamson,Jok,and Marble's cousin, right? Seems like they should be good.

JihaddyP hangs out at high schools. That's fairly normal.

Merrick Marble is about the 10th or 11th player on the roster and does not get consistent minutes.

Horner has 2 seniors that play regularly (Abrahamson and Meyer) then he plays 6 juniors and 1 sophomore.

Is your argument that they don't play defense in AAU games therefore he plays better in them? And he isn't drawing double teams especially with Abrahamson on the floor(their best player by far). Basically I don't understand your argument at all.

The kid can play and like I said he has the body. The question is whether he can play at that level. That is why Fran makes the big bucks I guess. ITIF.
