Disregarding health/foul situations:

1. Mike G. - can create, reliable ball handler, decent three point shooter
2. Dev M. - can create, reliable ball handler, three point threat, good defender
2. Josh O. - three point threat, reliable defender
4. Melsahn B. - active on the glass (tip-ins), active rebounder, good defender, reliable FT shooter
5. Adam W. - very good defender, eats up space in the lane, reliable FT shooter

disagree with your assessment of JO's defensive abilities. He gets burned regularly.

Some players are more athletic than him, but I don't think he gets burned by any means. That is, I don't think he gets lost as much as some other players on the team (Gabe O, Uthoff, even White recently)

I could live with this, but I think even though playing poorly right now White defends much better.

Give me our starting 5 in the game when it counts. I believe that is our best lineup.

It has weaknesses like the 3 pt shooting but Aaron White, although not playing like it, may be our 2nd best player and needs to be on the floor.

I'm not giving up on whitey yet. We are a better defensive and rebounding team with him in the lineup. On the other hand josh provides another shooter.

It's close but give me Whitey over Ogelsby.

fair analysis, and a good counter point. As basketball players go, Whitey is far and away more talented than Ogelsby. But my rationale for choosing Josh or Aaron is this: in a half court offense, Josh gives Iowa a better chance to score points, and causes defense to extend (more open lanes for others to created)...with White, defenses really sag and clog the lane. And what I've seen, Iowa's inability to score in a half court set is killing them in close games when the other team is limiting transition points.

The thing is the best defender of this group is gesell and he is the only one you didn't bring up defense about.

Woody's defense > Gesells, but I didn't bring it up by accident. Was thinking offense when I started this thread, but added defense when I got to Marble.
