Its not often that injuries are a good reason to go pro early. In this case, I have to agree with his decision. Only so much wear and tear on your shoulders.
did he get held back a year in school? no redshirt would lead me to believe he is only 21.
I still disagree and think he would have been better served returning to school. His mental game is what is going to get him drafted, not his physical talents. I think one more year of experience would have helped him. Also showing he can make it through the year without his shoulder being a problem would go a long way as well. Just my .02
As a 3-year starter, he's pretty much seen it all, and NFL teams have seen his playmaking ability over and over. The only thing he could have maybe improved was his tackling from this past year. But, it's been theorized by us uniformed that perhaps the shoulder injuries were what led to his decline in tackling performance in the first place. Coming back risks further injury, and a third one like that would REALLY hurt his stock.
He was a RS JR. The equivalent of a senior. Most of who usually turn 22 during or shortly after their senior years. He was either held back or started a year late. It was a good choice for him just like it was Shonn Greene. He was 23 because he had 3 years at Iowa along with a year out of school and a year at prep school.
