I like how he's flying under the radar.
I've heard a few things here and there, but mostly just quiet. Good sign his head is down and getting into the grind.

I'm pretty curious about him. He pretty much dominated last yr and certainly looks the part physically. It'll be interesting to see how they work those 3 guys in and out of the lineup because they all seem capable of handling a work load. (not to mention Geil coming in he looks like a man already too but if all goes well he may end up redshirting)

Definitely some competition. Which is good. We needed that room to set the bar a little higher.
Especially when we want to be a balanced offense.
It takes everyone for sure.

Totally agree. I think they are plenty capable. I think their ability to reach their ceiling is kind of out of their hands though. Between playcalling and the play of the Oline they gotta have some help to maximize what they can do.(the Oline especially will have question marks with replacing Daniels and Welsh not to mention both tackles for week 1)

Exactly. Hard to run with **** blocking. Hard to run when you have **** for a passing game.
Definitely a team sport. There really isn't a #2 in any position. You had better be just as capable as anyone. If you aren't, your not doing your job.

I just hope if there is a drastic difference between what the #1 guys can do compared to their replacements that the playcalling can help them out. You can get more creative with that too. Not that that's the end all be all fix either but you can't do the predictable same ole same ole zone run play to the short side of the field on every 1st and 10 especially with all we've just mentioned being involved.

SARGENT - One fumble in 204 carries last year.........that's what Ferentz prizes the most. Kelly-Martin knows this well after sitting for 5 games after an Illinois game fumble. All the flash, speed, and moves aren't going to cut it if you can't hold onto the ball.........especially with Iowa and it's usual close margin games.

It is interesting how he has flown under the radar. It seems that there are many that like the idea of adding JUCOs, as well as adding more playmakers. Here is a JUCO all-american who led the nation in rushing yards, and he gets added to one of our least experienced position groups; yet, few seem to think much of it. Perhaps he is being overlooked because he was plucked out of our backyard (Iowa Western), or perhaps people are disappointed that the Hawks apparently chose him over 4-star Jirehl Brock. Whatever the explanation for the slow build, it looks like the Hawks may have picked up a really good RB who is mature (2 years out of HS as he RS his 1st year at Western), can contribute THIS season, and still has 3 years to play.
