Sapp

I haven't seen it mentioned here, but I thought AC played a solid game last night. Was it spectacular? No. But definitely solid. Only 2 TOs in just under 20 minutes, he hit his free throws when needed, and had 7 points and 2 assists to go along with 4 rebounds. And the block he had after one of the TOs was a great hustle play. I felt like he played the way a backup point guard is supposed to play.

Well done Sapp .. .. well done.

GO HAWKS!!!

He was decent, I saw he only had two turnovers in the box score, but I swear he had three turnovers in a row at one point. He still looks nervous with the ball and awkwardly picked up his dribble a few times. Getting extended playing time did seem to settle him down.

Needs to quit telegraphing passes. Seems to be the majority of his turnovers come from this. Hit a big 3 though, hit free throws, and had that tremendous block.

Gotta bring me up to speed. Why is Clemmons called "Sapp"
IIRC when he was younger and playing Pop Warner football, he had the intensity of Warren Sapp. Someone started call him 'Sapp' and the name stuck. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember hearing.

GO HAWKS!!!

He might dribble too much at times, but he also picks up his dribble at the wrong times, that's when he gets into trouble with turning the ball over and when running the break, but he's only a freshman and like someone said he did seem to settle down a little. He may be pushing too hard because he's been playing with the second team and not the first team.

That was my impression too. The telegraphing gets him into trouble, also he just throws some dangerous ones when the defenders are clearly in the passing lanes waiting for them. But he does have a good A/T overall and I think the good definitely outweighs the bad. For a freshman PG he is very solid.

Even my wife was calling for AC to be benched after two turn overs in a row, but he played through it and had a solid overall game. Nice job.

Gotta hand it to Fran on this. His 2 early TOs were terrible. I could have seen where he doesn't see the court after that. Starters can do that, role players often have to cheer the rest of the night. That might not be right, but that's how it is. Fran also chewed him at the end of the half. That said, Fran went back to him. With Mike out, it was probably necessary, but Fran had faith. As others have said, the hustle play reminded me of Hyde chasing down the NW running back. That play says a whole lot about Sapp. Good win. Go Hawks!

He was also kind of chubby as a youth, and played defensive tackle.
