Sam was invited to the WNBA DRAFT in Uncasville Connecticut which means she's a strong candidate to go in the first round. If you would like to watch it the first round will be on espn2 at 6:00 p.m. c.t. Thursday April 16th. The second and third rounds will be on espn3. Congrats Sam!

Sam has been mocked to go somewhere between 5 and 8, most often to the Phoenix Mercury. That would be a good spot for her. She can get some playing time while Diana Taurasi sits out this year.

Selfishly, would love to see her stay local (Chicago at #5 or Minnesota at #11).

Taurasi still plays?? Isn't she about the same age as Dickie V?

When the WNBA season is over Sam will probably be heading overseas to play. That's alot of basketball.

That is awesome. I've truly enjoyed watching her for the last 4 years. I hope she has a long happy rewarding career.

I was really hoping she'd go to MN and learn a bit under Lindsay Whalen. Plus I live there and we attend games. Very similar players in almost every way, although I've never heard analysts compare the two.

You can make fun of the WNBA if you like, but for awhile it was a superior product to NBA and still is to NCAA. By product, I include overall entertainment value of attending a game. Good fundamentals, some exciting athletes. Watching a game live is non-stop entertainment. During timeouts there is always some entertainment on the court and in the stands. Unlike CBB when you are forced to sit through countless timeouts with no attempt at entertaining fans other than maybe the cheer squad.

And yes, Sam will almost certainly play overseas during off-season and probably earn more $$. I think nearly all WNBAers do both.

Congrats to Sam. I wanted her to go to Minnesota also. In recent years the only thing resembling a winner there is the Lynx. FYI, Kiah Stokes was drafted just a spot or two after Sam.

I wonder if they'll make her check into "rehab" for her anger issues...

Its to bad the best women basketball players don't make nearly as much money as the men. The professional men players aren't worth what they make, but we live in that kind of world, but if they do get the money, its to bad the women don't too.

She is so good and so versatile. Hope she has a long and successful career in the WNBA.

Is this the highest pick ever for a player coming from a college in Iowa?

Toni Foster was #8 overall in 1997. Her and Logic are the only first-round picks from the Hawkeyes.

The circus is entertaining too but that doesn't mean it is better than college basketball.
