Rutgers, and We Think We Had QB Problems

The last paragraph lists three QB recruits that will stay with the program. So it's not getting much worse than it already is. Rutgers jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire when it joined the Big Ten. This is like burning already burnt toast.

There is no question that they are in way over their head right now. They are in a brutal Power 5 division with 3 blue bloods and another program that has risen up the last 8 years.
But they have proven, with the right coach, they can be a solid program in a great recruiting area. They're still getting a piece of the B1G cash cow. But they'll have to make major investments in the program or they'll be what Indiana and NW were for so long in the B1G.

It doesn't sound like the coach wanted them anyway, so it's not quite as bad as the headline would have you believe.

I think Ash is making a mistake here. You don't want to tear down all the great things that Rutgers football already has going for them.

No matter what every year Rutgers has OSU, Michigan, PSU & MSU on it's schedule. If you lose all 4 of these which will be likely many seasons they have to win 6 of the other 8 to go 6-6 and make a bowl. Same is true for Maryland. Welcome to the B1G.

It is funny how micro the view of Iowa is for some. Lots of teams have lots of problems much, much larger than Iowa does. Lots of teams in complete and total meltdown mode:

Oregon
Notre Dame
MSU
Texas
LSU
Ole Miss
TCU
Baylor
Indiana
Rutgers
Illinois
Purdue
Arizona
Arizona St.
UCLA
Tennessee
Missouri
A&M
Arkansas
Miss St.

List of teams that should be upset in your list-

Oregon
Notre Dame
MSU
Texas
TCU
Purdue
Arizona St.
UCLA
Tennessee
Arkansas.

These schools should be on the market for HC. Some already have made hires.

The pitchforks have been put away temporarily with a mutable 3-0 following PSU. A bowl blowout and mine will be back out.

I don't actually think it matters who is coaching Iowa's offense. Second-year starter senior QBs will always be second - fiddle to senior punters at Iowa under KF.

Scott Frost couldn't call an exciting game under Ferentz. It cannot be accomplished.

Ouch!!

Indiana was making progress until all this stuff about coach wilson came out after his firing. It really is important that most all conf teams are solid every year. We dont need blowouts all over the schedule because it hurts every teams strength of schedule for bowl pecking order, etc. Listen the hawks smelled the final four after last season but it probably wont happen often. Although if for whatever reason the hawks were playing all their games like they played the final 3 games and most of the games after jNW it could be said the might be 11-1 right now with only a loss to PSU.

the hawks might have been in the Big Champ game and had a chance at the final 4 again this year.

What is this list? Where does it come from? Texas A&M has the same record as Iowa. Arkansas & LSU went 7-5, you know an average KF season, one of them fired their coach and the other is probably on the hot (warm) seat.

For the record, I'd like to say we have a WR issue, and an offensive line issue...not a QB issue.

Totally agree, I saw many opposing QBs against Iowa have much more time and a much cleaner pocket pass play after pass play all season long compared to what CJ had.

I have heard the old saying that really good run blocking lines dont pass block well and I think that may have been true 40 years ago but the game and nfl have changed and linemen need to be great at both.

The hawk offensive line needs to really improve here as does the running back blitz pick up. It will be a good sign to see some improvement by bowl game time.

Just an extra second of good pass protection allows crossing patterns which are hard even for the pros to cover and maybe some more comeback patterns which take some time as well as long passes.

Do you guys intentionally misspell Rudock's last name?

No, I have dyslexia...seriously. Also used to be a teacher and still teach college courses. Used to be a decent speller, but I've seen so may variations and phonetically correct way of spelling that I don't know anymore. His name doesn't show up on spell check....

I know it drives some of you nuts. People saying the Pledge of Allegiance with a comma after One Nation also drives me nuts. It's One Nation Under God. Not One Nation, Under God.

Still think all of us here need counseling.
