Rutgers AD Chugs Beer at Student Tailgate

Natty Light?

He should take a bong hit too. F all of these uptight stupid social-mores. People need to unclench themselves and live a little.* We'd all be better off. Just don't drive drunk.**

.

*Not sarcasm. Totes serious. Let it go, let it go...

**Really. Don't be dumba$$ and drive drunk. You live in the age of Uber. Use it.

I don't really understand why he apologized... I think part of the reason the US has such a binge drinking problem is that we treat it like some horrible drug that mustn't touch your lips until you are 21 and even then if you are a responsible adult you dare not have fun with it. Promotes a culture of "woohoo, now I have access to the demon alcohol, time to get hammered all the time since I'm not supposed to!!"

Don't yall love how the Powers That Be at IOWA are so uptight about proles and students imbibing distilled and fermented spirits but lavish their VIP guests with all manner of fine liquor at the palatial press box? Funny how that works.

(Do not take this as my condoning of sloppy drunkenness. I despise sloppy drunks.)

The problem IS binge drinking and the associated issues (drunk driving, alcohol poisoning, accidents, violence) that go along with it. I mean I understand why a figure of authority shotgunning suds COULD serve as a bad example and implied permission for students to liquor themselves into oblivion, but let's get real here: If you lack self control and are prone to drinking to excess, the AD shotgunning a brew ain't gonna provide you extra motivation, and if you do possess self-control, his example isn't going to compel you get hammered, unless you're like the most pathetic lemming on the face of the earth. Counterpoint, Pat slamming brew obviously endeared him to the students, so that they probably respect his opinion more.

So really, all things considered, I say leave Pat alone, he was just caught up in the moment having fun. But that doesn't excuse binge drinking, which just makes people stupid and dangerous (and can kill you.)

Poor PR move on his part. In this current social media climate, a public figure has to assume everything he does is going to end up on video.

Did he even chug the beer or did he just take the sip that is seen in the video? I would have more of an issue of him chugging a beer which to me would me more of a promotion of binge drinking.

Had he done it prior to everything being filmed it could be worse. Hear say always exaggerates the situation.

Sorry but anyone growing up in a home where alcohol resulted in trauma knows its not that simple. Spend some time in east Europe and see a culture that fully embraces what you are saying. Its a very sad place.

I didn't watch the video or read about it. I saw a headline on a different story that said the AD "chugged" a beer. I laughed. Hadn't heard that term in a while. It's funny.

I could give a rip if the Rutgers AD sipped, funneled, did keg stands or played beer pong. And I'm certainly not posting it as click bait for USA Today, part of The Gannett company that has helped to ruin newspapers.

I posted the story because it made me laugh. That's all. It wasn't a political statement or a comment on society.

Good day.
