Rough few days for former Hawk in the NFL.

The last few days have been pretty tough on former Hawkeyes who made rosters in the last few years. James Morris, Tony Moeaki, john Lowdermilk, Adam Gettis, James Ferentz, Jeff Tarpinian, Ricky Stanzi and Julian Vandervelde we're all cut in the last two to three days. Here's hoping they can catch on with another team.

Morris kind of surprises me. Thought I heard he had played quite a bit in the preseason and had played well.

That's what I thought. Belichick talked him up and Morris was one of the leading tacklers in the preseason games. I should know better than to trust what Belichick says. Lying and cheating goes together.

Adam Gettis was re-signed by the Giants. James Ferentz signed with the Broncos and Louis Trinca-Passant was signed by the Rams. I expect James Morris and Jeff Tarpinian to sign with someone. I would love for Ricky Stanzi to get a shot with a team who will let him play at least one regular season game.

Moeaki and Godfrey both were re-signed by Atlanta and Shawn Prater was also signed although I don't remember who signed him.

I'm glad, but surprised, that the Falcons re-signed Moeaki because when they cut him they gave him a (big surprise here) injury settlement.

The Falcons desperately need TE's, so hopefully he'll get a lot of playing time.
