I know there aren't a lot of Mexican basketball players but wow, I can't believe you said that.
If he were white or black you never would have made that comparison. There were a lot of other super talented guards in the tournament. Why didn't you want a player like them? Did you just have your heart set on having someone of Mexican heritage on the Iowa team?
It's really sad that in 2011 people are still so damn hung up on skin color.![]()

to the o.p. I see what you are saying.. but I say no thanks.
I will take what Cartwright brings to the table at the point next year. And I trust that Fran will bring in the right guy who wants to be a hawkeye to take care of the point after that. I have a feeling we are going to like what all of the current hawkeyes bring to the table next year after experiencing a full system of Fran's system.
Go Hawks!
This is a forum about Iowa basketball and Rodriguez happens to be a jet quick, dimunitive (small, helping you out) guard that creates for others. Yes, he is Hispanic also. Guerrero is also small, jet quick and has the ability to make everyone around him better. And yes, he is also Hispanic. Without Rodriguez, VCU is probably does not even make the NIT, not to mention the NCAA. With him, they are a dangerous team, thus the OP's point about envisioning what Guerrero could do for Iowa.
Yes, I am sure it was just a coincidence that that the OP picked the one point guard in the tournament who is Hispanic to compare to the recruit who also happens to be Hispanic.
Also, Rodriguez is from Fla so chances are he is Cuban and not Mexican. Some day Iowans will understand that not every brown person is Mexican.
Wow, pot...meet kettle. That was kind of out of nowhere. I don't think anyone thought anything about race or ethnicity regarding the op. That was some diatribe though. You done with that soap box?
