Rick Brown pulling no punches

Says Hawkeyes should be embarrassed by their performance. Then asks, "What is this coaching staff saving Weisman for? The wrestling team?" in response to abandoning him after he gashed Maryland in the 3rd qtr.

Not too often you see local beat writers being that critical. Good to see for once.

Most all of the season, Iowa's best blocking scheme has been right up the middle. My question is why is MW, almost, the only rb that gets to run that play? Why doesn't LD get that same play. Let's not make the mistake of thinking that if we start handing the ball off to MW 25 times a game, we'll be a better offense.

Nobody is saying every game...but in this game, if Weisman gets 25 carries, we win....

Sure makes you wonder why our offensive philosophy seems to change so much game to game. Jake should not be tossing 56 passes.

most games, I think Canzeri needs more carries.

Weisman did work today and should have been fed the rock a ton when iowa was only down 3 / 10 points...

Weisman averaged 7.8 ypc today. Figures that we only feed him 10 times on a day when he's feeling it, but then give him to him 15-20 times when he's only averaging 3.3 ypc (pulled that number out of thin air, but you get the point).

Really hate it when Rick Brown writes something I agree with. He's a Des Moines Register mouthpiece who's not exactly known for quality journalism or original writing. He trolls the message boards for ideas trying hard to persuade people he's thinking for himself.

Good lord that is harsh.....not saying it isn't accurate(double negative, bad grammar). Brutal, absolutely brutal.

Must have job security.

Two thoughts, 1 a screen pass in blitz situations and 2, maybe, just, maybe some misdirection plays

We ran 2 misdirections....the first was the 54 yd pass to Bullock where we sent everyone to the right and threw the swing pass to Bullock on the left. The 2nd was a counter play that Weisman took 38 yds to the 2. Amazing what some misdirection can do....especially for a team like us that almost always runs plays to the flow side...

Weisman run was an inside zone.

many don't realize that an inside zone really is meant to be a cut back. The fullback will usually block the backside de allowing the tb to cut back for a big gain. Canzeri runs the inside zone the most because you need good feet to cut and mark doesn't do it very well though he did on that play.

We've waited all year to get our running game going and when we do we go away from it. I don't understand what the coaches are seeing or doing, as a fan and season ticket holder it's frustrating to watch.

RB is joining a trend. Miller is pulling no punches. East state guys are pulling no punches. The TV announcers (whether "A" team like Speilman or ESPNu JV announcers) are pulling no punches.

It won't matter until the donors start punching.
