Richard Pitino to Xavier

I know he looks whiny, but the guy is actually super engaging. I still listen to Dan Barreiro from my years living in Minneapolis (top radio guy there), and Pitino still comes on the show from time to time despite being fired over 4 years ago. Think about that compared to Fran's approach?!

He's hilarious on air. Very self deprecating, dry sense of humor, but also very self aware. He still texts with the AD who fired him. Again, think about that?! "Well, bottom line is if I had won more games he wouldn't have needed to fire me."

I really wanted McCollum, but I think most Hawk fans would have enjoyed Pitino. Is Xavier a better job than Iowa? Maybe? Probably?

Also, where does New Mexico turn now? Do they look to Reno?

New Mexico is like Drake or vice versa…guy moves on, and they just find the next dude. The recent hit rate for both schools are really good.

A coach not only has to relate to the kids, they have to know the Xs and Os of their sport, but also have to be a culture fit to the school and to the fundraising crowd.

I just don't know if 'lil Dick would have been the right fit culture wise. I think he has the first 2 down.
