Remound Wright

I know it was mentioned in the "We need 1 more RB" thread, however, I figured this deserved its own. Wright appears to be an elite level athlete at BOTH CB and RB - two areas of need for us IMO. He would fit very well. Wright posted a number of tweets about how KF had a visit with him for just over 6 hours yesterday and he thought it was pretty fun.

The reason I really started this thread was because I was upset. I know there are some grade A douches out there, so rarely do I get surprised by anything. However, a guy by the name of Tom Davis (ironic name, I know) tweeted this @ Remound Wright last night:

@MrWrightBoi1da It's ur life, do what u want. But choosing Iowa (average school) over Stanford (elite in every way) probably isn't smart.

Man that infuriates me. A 40+ year old (who kind of looks like a pedophile based on his profile pic) telling a recruit what school is best for him? The thing that makes this really bad: he is a sports editor @ The Fort Wayne News Sentinel. Real professional Tom....continue to chat with 18 year olds on Twitter, professional journalism at its finest.

Oh, and he is a major ND fan. You can clearly see that in his tweets. Guys like him are the reason I hope that ND never recovers from its reign of mediocrity. END OF RANT.

Anyway...Wright would be a phenomenal addition to this class, and a great compliment to the running styles of Coker/Coe/McCall - he'd for sure be a change of pace, and, maybe more importantly, if he wanted, he could probably see early PT at CB if he wanted to play there.

Good info. Yes, the old guy putting that on Iowa v. Stanford is dumb. Especially since it's a new coach and nobody knows how they'll end up in a few years. Finally if you don't like Iowa get over it. I don't see Iowa people (professionals) telling OT that go other places they're not smart cause KF will put you in the NFL. At least in public.

Two things that stand out if you go read Wright's twitter page.

1. Kirk and Co. visited him yesterday for ever 6 hours. Wright seemed impressed and stated how nice of a guy Kirk was.

2. Hawk fans are already starting to not only follow him, but talk to him. He said he picked up over 25 Iowa follows with an hour last night.

Also, somebody on another board said that he posted on his facebook page he is visiting Iowa next weekend.

The coaches put a full court press on the guy. He visited with Kirk, Lester, and Johnson for a good chunk of time yesterday.

Am I the only one excited to see Coe at RB. he's huge and put him with Coker, and that will be a big backfield that will punish the D.

Coe has been my #1 want since i started following recruiting which was before this season. I think he can be a good and maybe even a great RB. I just think he would be an absolute monster at defensive end or Linebacker.

He would be great at RB, if he can stay healthy there. The big knock on Coe at RB has been that his height makes him vulnerable to injuries at that position. He's already had 1-2 concussions depending on who you listen to. Whereas with his size and speed everyone, including the Army-AA team, feels he would be great at LB/DE. It could make a difference to him a few years from now too, as we've seen recently how perceived ideal body dimensions, regardless of actual production, can determine if you're even drafted by the NFL. However, as you note, he's going to be a difference-maker wherever he plays in college.

That's what people said about Clay too, and I think he'll have a good shot in the NFL.

That's a perfect example. in my opinion Clay killed his draft stock because he can't stay healthy.

Yes, but his wasn't due to concussions or size (other than being out of shape) It was due to ankles, that was because he would gain weight like it was his job. He looked like a linemen out there. If Coe can work on that I think he'll be fine, it's not cause Clay was tall that he got injured.

No, but that extra weight on those ankles, and the pounding running style makes you a greater risk of injury. Just to clarify, I am ecstatic that Coe is coming to Iowa and I think he'll be a baller wherever he plays. The thought of that size and athleticism at D end has me gitty.
