Major League Soccer gets underway this weekend but without its usual cadre of professional officials. The Professional Referees Organization, which provides referees to MLS, has locked out its players in a dispute over pay and working conditions. So here come the replacement referees.
Very disappointing. MLS fans, and players, deserve the best referees available, particularly at the start of this new season.
