Recruiting Star Cap Plan 2.0

I created this plan is to help reduce unfair practices such as stockpiling and oversigning in college football, and to improve balance. There are 128 division 1 college football teams. Each year there are considerably fewer than 128 5* recruits and 512 4* recruits. This plan takes those numbers into consideration without forcing any player into an individual school. Here are the provisions of my plan:

1. No team can grant more than one 5* recruit per class a scholarship.

2. No team can grant more than four 4* recruits per class a scholarship.

3. If the number of recruits exceed the total number of offers available the allowable number per each school shall increase in increments of 1 as needed.

So your plan of action is to screw the athletes over an archaic talent scoring system?

Of course the talent scoring system may need some updating but it is a good starting point. This plan does still allow for each recruit to still have many options to chose from. In many cases it might actually help keep recruits from situations that are not in their best interest.

So the Hawks would be maxed out with 4 star players in this class...Paulsen twins, James Daniels, Karan Higdon.

On rivals not all those guys were 4*. This is a very good recruiting class though. It would also help Iowa to get a 5* recruit most years. More importantly it would prevent teams like o$u and Alabama from stockpiling.

Or just use the NFL draft rules. Worst team in each conference is guaranteed one 5 star. Second worst is guaranteed at least two 4 stars...and so on

Hawknick used to be more subtle in his trolls. He actually got me for a while. Now it's just kinda humorous.

Today Hawknick officially hit my ignore list, I honestly couldn't take it anymore. I honestly tried and held off hoping for change, but he has gotten worse so I was forced to pull the plug. It's way to obvious he is a troll.

If some of you can only insult people you disagree with then you have my pity but I won't stoop to your level.

To the person that wanted a NFL style draft I must disagree. These are students too so they must be able to choose a school based on more than just football.

After further consideration I think the plan should be 5 four star recruits per class rather than 3 to start out with. I also propose development of a more modern and standardized ranking system to go along with this.

Hawknick, I luv ya brother, but when an idea is this silly it is hard to respond and NOT sound mean spirited.

I don't think it's that silly and I have already taken other posters ideas and implemented them into this plan. I know it may still need some adjustments but I don't think it's that far off. I also can't think a better plan to fix this problem.

Maybe they should rate the top 3200 (128 x 25) players each year and have 128 1-star through 128 25-star players. Every year, each school gets one 1-star, a 2-star, and so on up to getting one 25-star player. Every year, teams get 25 players. Anyone not ranked is a walk-on or goes 1AA, D-2, etc.

Better yet, let's just have one bigass draft. ESPN would go for televising a month-long NCAA draft.

I see where you are coming from but at the college level scholarship limits are better in general because they still give options to the student athletes. What if a team graduates 30 players? What if the last 1* guy on the list wants to select a major not available at the last college or university selecting? The framework for this is already in place with the total scholarship limit, but this is a little more specific.

This gives them 125 players over the course of 5 years. That's a cushion for players that leave, play 4 years, transfer, die, etc. If the last 1* wants to doesn't want to go to the certain school, the team that lost him has a set number of days to select a 0-star player (walk-on) before the walk-ons can commit. There are some wrinkles to be ironed out, but I think between the two of us, we could reform the NCAA FB situation of seeing the same slimy teams in bowls every year and give the ISU's and Bowling Greens of the world a fighting chance.

Thanks I do value your ideas and the general framework. All though the stink at isu is so entrenched that this will not be able to help them, nor would I specifically want it too. If we all got together we could eliminate stockpiling. All though complete parody would be unrealistic. However a little more parody is good.

Karl thinks this is a great idea...
