I was listening to the Dan Patrick Show podcast from Friday today and he was interviewing Atlanta QB Matt Ryan. They were talking about paying players and Matt was joking that they would need to pay him a little extra in Boston than in Iowa City. He stated something like "A Bud Light in a midwestern town like Iowa City costs a little less than a Bud Light in Boston." But something that I never really considered is that a lower cost of living in the midwest than the east coast or a large metropolis is possibly a selling point, or at the very least, something a recruit realizes when he visits the midwest. I'm not attributing most or all of Ferentz's eastern recruiting success to this but I'm sure it plays some sort of factor. Nothing to really elaborate on but something I just really hadn't thought about which surprised me today.
