Recruiting classes

i know that we have gotten burnt by our more prolific recruiting classes in the past, but this bunch seems like a group with character. I also know if is early, but these guys seem committed. I am psyched, and I think we have more good recruits maybe on the way.

All that said, is this class already the best we've seen under kf? Is it close?

The '05 Class was Top 10 by Rivals. This class is currently 15.
I noticed that... is it just me or did rivals change their "star system" bc it seemed like they had a lot more 4 and 5 stars back then. Is this common with all of the recruiting sites or am I just completely wrong?
Also I realize the top 10 ranking doesn't change if there even is a different way they distribute starz.

But looking at that 2005 class is crazy... was it a big deal back then when they signed that class? I didn't follow recruiting at all back then so maybe I was just out of the loop

Who cares? Who's 'stars' are we going by............It still really amazes me how people get hung up in this 'star' thing. I don't know why this new recruit is a 4 star? Because he plays in Dallas? He's a good tackler, but his cover 2 technique is very poor, so he'll have a lot of work to do when he gets to Iowa....He made up for poor technique against high school kids, but he won't against Big10 talent, but I can see why they think he has a big 'upside'..........

Well if you look at that 2005 recruiting class there are like 8 4 stars and 1 5star.. it may just be coincidence that this was the class that lead to the orange bowl victory and some great wins.. but you are lying if you aren't pumped about getting top 100 recruits like aj, eno, and chevin

National Champs if Greene stays and StanzI stays healthy.

Then imagine if a fair share of those huge recruits panned out. Bone Crusher is our highest rated recruit ever. Replace the worst olineman on that team with Dorning and say he was our best instead. That would be a huge upgrade.

I'm not sure if Rivals has changed how it calculates its classes. I think most of them just simply add up the stars instead of taking the average, which seems cockeyed to me. That's going to help the SEC, where just about every school over signs.

In '05, we were coming off three straight seasons where we finished eighth in the country. Several of the top kids came from Illinois as well. The recruits networked there like the kids in Texas are doing this year.

details, i know, but Kyle Bonecrusher Williams was a part of the 2004 class. As it turned out, a very, very small part! :) He was the 14th highest rated player, that year, according to Rivals. Not Iowa's highest 'rated/ranked' player, ever. Maybe in the Ferentz era, but I'm not going to look that up right now.

I just assumed he would have redshirted and snuck in a medical redshirt too. :)
