Recruit someone that can shoot the d*** ball

It's a game of putting the ball thru the hoop.
You have to have guys that can shoot it.........
Need to have some Basketball IQ and savvy, not
'just look the part' cosmetically.

Don't make me name the ones on the roster I'm talking about..........

"cosmetically?"

Oges, Jok we're both pure shooters when recruited....

We have a few shooters coming in.

More concerned about depth at the 4-5 than shooters personally.

Today, along with UNI and NW, were aberrations and waaaaaayyy below averages, regarding shooting. If it continues, then we got issues.

Pure shooters? According to who?
Give me a friggin break.

Good Lord.........the guards .......that includes YOUR 'Pure Shooters' were
2-17 in the Win against Northwestern.

That aint real pure...........maybe real PUTRID

Our offense has truly been offensive in a good third of our games this season. Show me one other major D1 team who has shot as poorly (under 35%) in as many games as Iowa has this season.

Jok has been lost for the past 8 games, Og's for 3 years. Yet some DII level player do fine at UNI. I just don't get it.

You are absolutely correct. I also think part of it is the player's spacing and movement in the offense. Some games the passing and movement are crisp and players are catching the ball in rhythm facing the bucket with room and shooting better.

Other games the opponent is more physical and guarding better and hawk shooters arent in their rhythm.

Iowa doesnt have a lot of good shooters off the dribble and in turnaround shots. Gesell has his spots on the floor, Oges needs a lot of room, white needs a lot of room, Uthoff is one of the few that is a good shooter both off the dribble and with turn around shots.

I noticed the hawks were just a little short on most of their shots yesterday, Hmmm tired legs (maybe, Jok maybe has lost his legs a bit), neutral court shooting court (maybe as the hawks are losing bad at neutral courts)

But face it we dont have shooters like Wisky, Michigan can go off and Johnny Dawkins kid is lighting it up

Someone mentioned the asst coaches but really, these kids need to be good shooters coming out of high school, the coaches can help somewhat but most of these kids if they need some help can also go to camps or private coaches in the off season.

Iowa does need an overall talent upgrade but every team will have tired legs now. PSU just played a game a day before playing Iowa.

Two words: Wyatt Lohaus

Just kidding, but I think Andrew Fleming and Isaiah Moss will both have the chance to start immediately next year if they can prove they can knock down shots. Brady Ellingson also shot 66% from 3 this year in a very small sample size.

This team has bounced back from adversity once this season. They laid an absolute egg yesterday. Just played and shot horribly. I still have hope that they can bounce back again. They have talent, and there are guys who can shoot. Just one of those days, and didn't have enough energy to start. Once it got in their heads, it just went straight down hill from their. Call the team psychiatrist and let's get ready for the dance.

You have to be able to get open before you make a shot. Iowa's ball movement, screening and spacing yesterday was dreadful. That was bad Iowa again

Looks like they did recruit a shooter. Drew Cook has hit his 1st 4 three point shots in the 2A championship game for IC Regina. He has 18 of Regina's 28 points so far. :)

@CityHall03: Simeon 74, St. Rita 70, final. Isaiah Moss had 19, DJ Williams had 16. Charles Matthews had 26 points, 13-18 on FTs.
DJ going to Illini and Mathews to Kentucky, about 6 other D1 kids in this sectional game and Moss shined. He can shoot the rock!

We have been burned too many times by guys who can't miss in high school but can't hit the broad side of a barn in college. It's a different game. I could hit plenty of 3's in high school, but i wasn't guarded by 6'5" guys who could jump and were quicker than me as well. time will tell

Afraid we watch the Iowa high school talent and try to project that to the next level. Not enough talent in Iowa to really evaluate a player cause a good player never plays that many other really good players. AW had some great camps but for whatever reason never reached what was projected for him.

That is the best analysis of the Penn State debacle I have read. Even my wife was yelling "JUST MOVE!" at Iowa's offense...

SHOOTING - It's about having the balls and thick skin to not get intimidated. Get up after you get knocked down and and stop a run and get the Mo back, instead of running down the court with your head between your legs while your coach is lost in his own head trying to keep his *hit together reciting " Goosefraba" over and over and having no clue what's going on.
