"Some deep balls might have helped"

I wish ESPN was better at covering a game. On pass plays when they have time for replay, they need to show the overhead camera more often. It pisses me off when Rudock drops back, is obviously looking deep, then checks down. How about showing us what he saw once in awhile. Damn, if guys are covered, then commend the DB's by showing the coverage. It doesn't happen enough.

I'll be curious what coverages Maryland was running. I'm sure it was a three over the top much of the time taking away the long ball and forcing us to dink and dunk. After seeing that for 5-6 games, well, you would think we would have a few more answers.

"if iowa's receivers are going to run wind sprints all game, is it a rule they have to wear pads?"

You know, one thing good QB's understand is that even in coverage, especially man coverage, it's ok to throw it up targeting a place where only your guy can get it. It's ok to throw it deep and hope Powell or Willies can maybe track it down. Good QB's do it all the time. Deep crossing patterns where the safety is on the inside are a perfect example. You throw the ball to the outside where only your guy can get it.

At some point, you also have to give your guys a chance to use their talent and beat a defender for the ball. Jake appears so unwilling to turn the ball over, that he won't throw it unless his guys is clearing the defender at the decision point.

Argument rendered moot. Jake threw the most gosh-awful pick six I have seen.

Question, has Jake ever did a pump fake? I seriously cannot remember the last time I saw one??? Not that he would throw it deep anyhow...

Good point but by the time Jake set to pass he was under so much pressure most of the day, he would've been sacked more that what he was....

This was absolutely a team loss. Some of the worst tackling I've seen from an Iowa team, our best o-lineman played the worst game of his life and his fellow linemen weren't any better. It appeared Maryland was playing two deep safeties daring Iowa to beat them by completing those four yard passes and Jake had all kinds of trouble being accurate. The Maryland defense just Norm Parkered Iowa.

What pisses me off is Iowa finally got a team that wasn't trying to stack the box and we had success running the football and we decide to pass 56 times. (actually more than that if you include sacks/scrambles)
