So who all thinks will be the main guys next year?

Easley, ISM are no brainers after that will Brandon Smith begin living up to the hype/potential? How about the transfer Quaralls? He'll have been in the program for awhile I like his size.

Cooper got his feet wet but he's so so skinny yet I dunno if he'll be able to make an impact yet. Marchese redshirted so who knows about him either.

Dafney is a kid that intreagues me. He'll be a JR next year and he's played a lot of special teams and has great size 6'2 225. From Valley in WDM played big time HS football I'm just curious as a walk on if maybe he could break through.

Then there's the 6'5 225 lb Shaun Beyer. He's too athletic to keep on the sidelines all the time. I dunno if he's going to have gotten big enough to play TE really but that'd be fine by me to split him out wide or in the slot. They ran that one play for him in the bowl game so clearly the staff wants to not waste him completely either. Think of having say him, Brandon Smith with Fant and Hockenson on the field at the same time...

There's some pretty pessimistic folks I've seen posting about next yr and Iowa's passing game. I just think if Daniels comes back we should be more then just Ok. I think they could have a darn good year if things fall into place

Damn, you're a poet dude!

I was really surprised / disappointed that the receivers didn't show more improvement after Kennedy "retired" w/ Davis. If you can't consistently get open and/or catch the ball you've got no business being out there in a P5 program.

I don't think there should be any "no brainers" next year. ISM had a lot of plays where he looked like he's never caught a pass in his life. Good athlete, but that's gotta improve.

Hahaha totally unintentional. You won't see my initials on any Hallmark cards anytime soon I promise.

I think there's always going to be some growing pains with coaching changes be it Kennedy leaving and BF coming in. For those that have been in program the last year plus I think we'll see some improvement. Not just with the fundamentals of playing the position but just getting on the same page Xs and Os wise.

I know what you mean ISM is far from a finished product. He dropped way too many balls and needs to put on whatever weight he can. I guess what I mean by no brainer is due to his year of PT and he did make some plays out there he'll be out there a lot.

A pet peeve of mine is when they would throw a 50-50 jump ball kind of fade pass to an ISM or Easley. Throw those to Smith or bigger WRs that have the physical advantage. I think they wasted too many plays on taking shots where the only thing we could hope for was a flag.

Whoever can block the best AND run routes and check offs as ordered AND run the exact break off route.

Hopefully ISM can become more reliable. Felt like he had lot of drop this year but certainly can be a big play threat. Easley is your possession type receiver. Still need to use a lot of the TEs.

I expected the freshman WR to contribute more than they did so hopefully they can make some strides as sophomores. Really ISM is the only one that made a positive impact.

But overall, I don't have much excitement surrounding the group.

I wouldn't say I have a ton of excitement for the group so much as optimism. I think there's potential with players that could fit roles. I think we have a QB that can distribute it to them and they just need to put it all together. Hopefully this off season will help.

I really don't see a difference maker/playmaker in the entire group. We need someone that can stretch the field, and make plays consistently. Not once every couple of games. We don't have that. It seems every team we play has that, but we don't. All boils down to recruiting, and recruiting athletes, not possession receivers, or basically guys that are too slow to get open. Until we find someone that can recruit at the receiver position, then the offense will continue to look the same.

87 - I am not singling you out here, but this is a perfect example of expectations and perspectives.

Out of our top 5 WRs, only 1 had played a snap of D1 ball coming into this season. To take that a step further, 3 of the top 5 had their first D1 practices in August.
There wasn't a whole lot of time for for any coach to really mold these kids into something remotely close to a finished product. There was also very little time to build any sort of chemistry between Stanley and the freshmen/MVB.

Taking that into account, I would actually have to say the young receivers do have raw talent to be where they were.and Copeland did a fine job to get them there.
