Rebounding is what really disappointed me tonight.

I will be interested to see the numbers. Officiating was horrible, but we gave up way to much on the glass.

I agree the Marble decision making was rather bad.

On that note, Iowa will destroy Michigan at home. Nonetheless, Iowa still not quite there for breaking into the top dog status in conference.

They were off all night, everywhere. My only question is why does it take so long for iowa to get Aaron White the ball on the block? Runs around the perimeter for the first 30 minutes.

Everyone looked tired and unfocused on defense. Mis-timing jumps, caught flat footed, not blocking out, and little hustle.

Iowa, 33 boards, 10 offensive
Michigan, 32 boards, 10 offensive

Looks like Iowa did ok on the boards compared to the Wolverines.

Seemed like it was so much worse than that. Must have been in those critical situations where we needed a board and did not get it.

It seems as though they got more points from the off rebounds...really made a difference.

The lack of the 3 ball was the killer, though IMHO.

Interesting... I too felt watching it that we got beat on the boards badly.

Any idea what the 2nd chance points were for each team?? Sometimes if a team is converting those opportunities at a higher rate it can lead to that feeling of being dominated on the glass. Could that be the case tonight??

The bench was very dissapointing. Our starters collectively played to their averages. But the bench, which typically gets 30 got only 8 with 5 turnovers, 6 fouls and no 3s.

Probably.

In his post-game interview, McCaffery seemed most disturbed about the 4 turnovers Iowa made in the first 5 minutes of the game, despite their good shooting. I think he was concerned that the players would lose their poise in a tough road game. They settled down, but then went through another stretch of about 5 minutes in the second half where they lost their poise again.

Second chance offensive rebounds by the Wolverines killed us. We play good D and they tap the ball toward the half court line and end up scoring with their second chance.....

Free throws missed and turnovers hurt also.....

Hopefully this is our worst game. I have a feeling it will. I know Fran and the team feel terrible about the loss and will do everything they can to see that it does not happen again, hopefully that is.....

Iowa entered the game as the best rebounding team in the B1G. Michigan came in as the worst. Keeping the margin to -1 was a major victory for Michigan.

It felt like watching the game that Iowa was always about a half a click away from making the play. Stats weren't wildly in favor of Michigan, it was just the tiny things that didn't go Iowa's way. A couple of easy buckets missed, a couple of tipped passes in transition that would have led to easy baskets, some rebounds that were just out of reach. Michigan had something to do with that, but the bounces overall didn't seem to go Iowa's way.

As an aside, did it seem like the announcers were bigger Michigan fans last night - as if they wanted them to be undefeated when they played MSU. Probably just another example of what felt to me like the close ones going to the Wolverines all night long.
