Reason for Uptick in Recruiting?

KF always talks about he "reevaluates" things yearly in the off-season. I wonder if he made some conscience change to how we recruit after the 2009 signing class. We recruited very poorly in 2008 and 2009. Granted we didn't have great teams, but we were coming off a nice 5-6 year streak. We had some name notoriety, and just recruited terribly.

2010, 2011, and 2012 all have been far better recruiting years. Again maybe that is just the byproduct of having better 2008 and 2009 football teams. But these last two years have been disappointing and we still are recruiting strong this year.

I'm just curious if KF made some strategic change. I doubt we will ever know. We seem to recruit earlier than we used to. Many more unofficial visits in the spring/summer. More summer commits, more Junior days. Other than that I can't discern any real pattern. I just hope we keep recruiting at this clip. We can win with the types of players we brought in this year and the past two. It's hard to win (as we are seeing) with the 2008 and 2009 type classes.

I try not to evaluate what goes on in the coaches minds. They get paid a lot of $ to stay up late, make the visits, the calls and the promises. I'm just glad to be a Hawkeye and have a team to cheer for ( as should we all )! I welcome every recruit with open arms. If they want to be a Hawk? Then welcome. They are Family!! If they stay? Thankyou! If they leave? Goodluck! These are young men making monumental decisions and I will never talk them down. I myself sometimes get to wrapped up in these kids minds, but they are KIDS!!! The ones we get, the ones we don't, I wish them all the best of luck. My only advice.... There are no better colors than the BLACK & GOLD!!!
