Realistically hope for the NIT now

Only way now for NCAAs is win BTT, but this team can't hang with the MSUs OSUs and generally bigger teams (like Illinois) right now.

I think Iowa battled pretty well. However, need more size (coming next year) better point guard play, and more shooters.

I agree. We just don't have the talent to match up with big/athletic teams right now. UM, Ind, and UW are way less athletic than Illinois, MSU, and OSU.

We had our chances against Illinois but couldn't hit enough shots. We probably need to win the next 2 to get an NIT chance. A 9-9 Big 10 record would be great. Heck even 8-10 would be good improvement.

I think the NIT would be perfect. If they could get on a run and get a few more games for experience in NIT rather than one and done in the big dance.

We need more big man presence, a true point guard, and more than a couple players who can create their own shots.

But I thought I was a complete idiot for even bringing this up as a question.

No, you still are. There is NO WAY you take an NIT appearance over an NCAA tourney appearance just for the "experience".

I would rather they be in the big dance but it aint going to happen.

So lets just hope they get the NTI and get some good tourney experience.

I bet Iowa's odds in vegas for winning BTT are astronomical.

I never really thought Iowa had even an outside shot at the NCAA's. Still up in the air that they can even make the NIT.

Face it cartwright not being the same player really hurt this year. If he was on like last year I could see this team winning 20 games easy.

We aren't really in the discussion for the NIT either. More likely the CBI or CIT. Just get to a winning record Hawks.

I disagree. Iowa with a winning record in best conf in US gets into the NIT with 4 big wins.

The hawks having a NIT home game with a full house looks great on TV.

Just about money baby.

gee a slow unathletic Wiscy team beats OSU and you claim they are not good, not only did they beat OSU but they pounded them 83-60. which puts them 1 game out of 2nd, not only does this loss by Iowa takes them out of any talk about the dance but it put NW squarely on the bubble

The final score was actually 63-60 Wisconsin.

Wisconsin was down 1 with 34 seconds left.

It was hardly a pounding. I do agree that Wisconsin is solid.

Who claimed Wisconsin was not good Herb?

The answer, I know, is nobody, but I can't wait to see how you answer anyways.

I bet he finds a way to blame ESPN or the refs somehow.

Well that damn ESPN made their 6 look like an 8 for Wisconsin's score when it was scrolling across the screen and if the refs wouldn't have sucked Wisconsin could have easily scored 83 on OSU Not even a question really
