The author refers to Hilgenberg and Bortz as two former Iowa offensive linemen. I could be wrong, but I am fairly certain Bortz played on the D-Line at Iowa and went to the offensive side once he got to the NFL.

Yes, Bortz played defensive line for the Hawks. He was very instrumental in Hayden's first trip to the Rose Bowl. I loved watching him play, especially the UCLA game that year.
