This, to me, is an example of the problems inherent with mainstream journalists adopting some of the norms of social media.

The column he wrote would not have passed the "smell test" with his editors and appeared in the Argus Leader newspaper. But because he's writing this under his own name, online and with room for anonymous comments, this kind of crap suddenly appears but is taken as fact by the unwashed masses.

There's no attribution, no facts, no named sources beyond what already has been reported from the Roosevelt AD and the no comments from the coach.

Whitney is a pot-stirrer. But stirring the pot with what?
