Ray Lewis' interesting comments re: NFL lockout and crime

The way I read the article, I don't think he was talking about players. So my question to Lewis is, do we normally see crime increase in the NFL off-season since there's no football and people have nothing to do?

It's stupid no matter which angle he's taking it from. As mentioned, Ray, what happens in the off-season every year?

And if he were talking about it from the players' perspective: it shouldn't be the league/owners' fault that there are players who can't keep out of trouble.

TM is right this is dumb. What domestic abuse is going to rise since there is no NFL football? So People are going to rob and steal because there isn't any NFL games to wager on? No direct correlation, no data, no link to support any of this. This is so dumb it's almost laughable.

And if he is referring to the players then he is playing into the the stereotype that a lot of these guys are thugs, when the vast majority are not. Save the 'nugget of truth in every stereotype' argument for another subject 85-90% of these dudes are pretty decent.

I think it's a cry for help, so lock your doors everyone...I think Ray's going to kill again!

Ray didn't kill anybody. He refused to testify against the person that did. You don't rat/snitch on your boy, your dawg, your homey. Not condoning it, but we all have seen enough mafia/gangsta movies to know how this works.

Did he deserve to spend a year or two in jail for obstruction of justice? Yeah....probably.

Is he a murderer? No.

Yes because you never see some nobody in a star's entourage step up and take the charge for the athlete. That's never happened before.

Ray Lewis is a murderer.

Pretty much this.............even joey porter called him a murderer regarless of what the jury said.

Joey Porter is not credible.......He go shot in the a$$ at a club for not knowing when to shut the bleep up. He is always running his mouth if he is well informed or not.

Because the beef was with somebody in his entourage, not Ray Lewis. Why would Ray Lewis admit to something he didn't do. You honestly think he had a knife with him in his pimp get up?

As far as I know he did testify. They dropped the murder charge for an agreement to testify against the other two, and pleading guilty to obstruction of justice. He got the maximum sentence for a first offender, a fine and probation. He never killed anyone, and if they had any evidence that he had, he would not have gotten a plea deal.

As for the article, it seems like a pretty silly thing to say. I say he is dead wrong.

I was wrong on that......however the misdeameanor charge of obstruction probably should have been a felony charge.

How silly are you.

If you have money there is a different legal system available. Ask OJ pre-Vegas, or the former IMF chief. You don't really think Ray just plain was in the wrong place at the wrong time do you.

Oh, and as for Joey Porter, he's an idiot but he does say what's on his mind.
