Ricky Stanzi, Iowa: It's very close between Stanzi and Tolzien, but Stanzi's 18-4 mark as Iowa's starting quarterback sets him apart. Yes, you can point to the mistakes, and there were a lot of them, but no quarterback in the country made more big plays in the fourth quarter than No. 12. I expect a smarter and more efficient Stanzi in 2010. Plus, he's a damn fine American.

The guy who will end up having the best NFL career: Cousins
Best Game Manager: Tolzien
Good QB on a bad team: Chappell
QB in the wrong system: Weber
Stanzi: Could go anywhere from being drafted in rounds 3-7, to not being drafted at all and going the FA rout

yeah, rick definitely doesn't fit the "game manager" mold, but he sure is clutch. he makes both sidelines bite their nails from nervousness.

Great for Stanzi. I think this article may not give Persa from NW enough credit. That kid did good in spot duty when Kafka was hurt last year

He didn't do very much as a passer, though. 20-34 (58%) for 224 yards, 2 TD to 2 INT. While those numbers aren't dreadful, he also didn't look that pretty trying to throw the ball. He was much more effective as a runner. That's not to say he hasn't improved, but we haven't seen him yet. Rittenberg admitted it may seem low, but Persa needs to prove he can throw the ball, too.

It was like 1955 all over again last year in Kinnick...they ran more single wing stuff than we have seen since Evy was on the sidelines

Persa will be like every other NW QB they have had for the last 15 years(Basenz, Shnur,Kafka). Thick lower body qb who may not be deadly running the ball on the perimeter, but is a killer running the ball between the tackle on QB draws and plays designed to run up the middle. Btw, Persa will be able to throw the football next year....... Which may not matter because from what I have read Fitzgerald wants to run the football more this year.

And yeah.......... I agree with everyone else Stanzi is probably the most clutch of the group.
