Quite the interesting officiating

I've never seen such an innovative interpretation of what a foul is.

The heck with traditional norms or anything resembling consistency they're shakin it up today.

way to make it interesting guys.

maybe this anything and everything may or may not be a foul will catch on full time some day.

Few times that Hawks played well against shaky officials.... Tied for 1st place and heading into WI, Go Hawks!

At least it was equally head scratching on both sides.

Still trying to figure out how that wasn't a flagrant when Jok got hammered from behind, but the one on Gabe against Texas was.

I've seen worse. The non-review on the Jok foul to end the half really stood out but for the most part I was okay with the way it was called. They seemed to reward aggressiveness and that's what I like to see. There was a time or two when they didn't award the defender when he had his arms up (or when the offensive player initiated contact) and that annoyed me but it wasn't typical Big Ten "physicality" and I like that much better than what usually happens.

Oh yeah it was equally bizarre both ways. I don't know how Gessel got a no call on that block but then they call a dozen fouls with almost no contact.

Gabe got a moving screen called with out moving. Just inexplicable.

Ive definitely seen worse, just about any time Teddy Vs involved it will be worse, but I can't recall any as strange.

The Big Ten has hands down had some of the worst officials for several years now. It's a problem that Jim Delany refusing to really take a look at.

QCH is correct - the B14 has, is and always will be the worst, most inconsistent (call to call, within games, game to game) officiating of top D-1 leagues. The only credit they get is, most of the time (except MSU and Wisky) they suck both ways. So, gotta accept this, factor it into your game prep and realize you will have to adapt.

Awesome job by Whitey yesterday. Went through period of "moping", then finally realized they way these refs were calling everything around the rim favored his game and he asserted himself. Stopped waiting to be fed the ball and decided to keep the ball and drive. The lack of contact allowed him to finish (Notice how much less flailing he did to draw a call? He didn't need to; refs called it whether contact or not.) AW gets 18 in second half, 10 of which were free throws.
