for those in the know.

Is it possible for ISU, Kansas, K State, Mizzou, and Baylor to cash a big check from the other B12 schools, just by riding all this out and then absorbing or merging with the MWC?

I know that Nebraska will have to pay the B12 for leaving and I would assume Colorado also must do this. If all of the B12 south, except Baylor, were to leave as well, wouldn't they also owe?

Sounds like it could be a good situation for those left behind, IF they can lone up some sort of merger after this goes down.

If anyone has any information about this it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I heard this on an interview with the B12 Commissioner. Nebraska won't owe the B12 anything for leaving. It will just be withheld from the $$ the B12 would have given to Nebraska.

So what happens to that money? is it divided out to all the others?

Another question, does the money go to the Big12 conf. or divided up between the remaining teams?

This is the core idea to my question. I'm trying to figure out if the B12 commissioner will hold on to the very end with whoever is left, just to get those schools an extra payday.

The quick answer, as I understand it, is yes. The money is withheld from the departing schools. Then, ultimately, redistributed to those schools which remain. It supposedly takes 9 votes to dissolve the conference so that's not an option if the remaining 5 stick together.

Then again, I'm no lawyer and I'm guessing we're going to see a bunch of litigation surrounding this event.
