Question....Why did we abandon Coker?

He was on fire! Maybe roll with the hot hand? Such a frustrating season.

my thoughts exactly from the whole 2nd qtr on. The D was stymied by the plays we needed to call for our O line and Coker. He was menacing to the D. Then we stop, not for a series, not for a qtr., but over half the game. I hope Arob is okay (cheap shot that 7 refs didn't see due to Tressal getting their ear), but they should have been rotated more, Coker had the feel of the game and Arob never got it.

Ferentz needed to call a TO on the play OSU had the ball and ran the clock down so there would be at least some hope of being able to run the ball at least once to catch OSU off guard. Once the clock was in a spot where it was clear we had to pass, Stanzi was a sitting duck, unfortunately O'Keefe thought the blitz was coming up the middle on first down and got Robinson hurt.

This is not on KOK anymore, this comes straight from the top. If KF wanted Coker in the game he would have been in the game. Kirk doesn't trust the players at times. Look what it took to get Stanzi to replace Christiansen. Coker doesn't even sniff the field until Arob gets hurt. Then he plays great at Indiana and doesn't get on the field again until Arob gets suspended for a quarter.

KF would rather go with what he is comfortable with than take a chance. For four games we have all known Coker should be getting more reps.

So he isn't picking up blitzes as well? The answer is to substitute by play instead of that idiotic series substitution pattern. That pattern is freaking high school.

Don't forget the Banks/McCann debacle. The guy is runner-up heisman is first year starting.

Our coaching staff doesn't do a good job of keeping guys in that are doing well. If would be like bringing a guy off the bench in bball and him scoring a bunch and then taking him out because he wasn't a starter.

Coker missed one blitz and we got a td off it. He picked up the other 2-3 that he was suppose to. Robinson should have got a series or two but it was clear Coker was better tonight, doesn't mean he will be next week though

Coker missed several blitz pickups in the first quarter and Ohio State was blitzing on close to 50% of the plays. On the TD from McNutt Coker missed a clear protection and if Stanzi had to hold it a tenth of a second longer he would have taken a sack.

What I like to do is this for breakfast, throw in a McRib for lunch, and finish it up with the footlong chilli dog from Sonic for dinner.

To answer your question all you need to do is look at all of the fire the coaching staff threads. There was no reason to abandon this kid and no reason to play him sparingly last week. The OC and HC have a hard time leaving their old habits behind.

If Coker plays the 3rd quarter OSU is likely kicking an onside kick. If it isn't already out of reach. This was the same mistake as the pitt game only ARob is a better RB then JC was QB. I think he wasn't ready to return. Ran really timid outside of the 10 yarder.
