Is the search committee required to interview a certain amount of candidates? In other words, even if Iowa knows who they want, and the interest is mutual and the hire is a foregone conclusion, are they still required to interview other coaches(and are they also required to interview a minority candidate).
I was told earlier not to be surprised if some lower tier coaches(and I use that term loosely) come out with some "not interested" claims. And the first thing I thought was perhaps these coaches didn't want to be part of a mock interview. Maybe they think Iowa has their man and they don't want to waste their time. Those kind of interviews can be helpful for young coaches who are just trying to get their names out to the coaching world. A coach like Gregory, who is already well known, probably wouldn't need something like that.
I'm not saying that is the case. Just curious if that would be possible.
Was their multiple coaches interviewed for the last wrestling hire? I don't recall.
