Purdue-NW

This is such a critical game for both teams NCAA tournament chances. I love the Big Ten this year because there are so many teams fighting for an NCAA berth that these games take on extra meaning. This is the best the Big Ten has been since Mr. Davis's last year in 1998-99, imo.

Currently Purdue has a 28-25 lead with less than a minute to go in the 1st half. I don't like either team but I'm gonna pull for Northwestern in hopes they finally end their NCAA tourney drought.

I am the biggest Purdue fan in Iowa right now. I want them to win badly. I hate everything about NW and do not want to see them get into the tourney EVER.

Also I wish NW would have played man against us like they are today. I think the Hawks would have eaten that up.

Crawford just got ejected for the T on slamming the ball, not that i am surprised by the losing to Purdue, they shot their wad against the hawks

Happens all the time, Herby.....

Love to see the fools give it all up to play the Hawks, only to run out of gas and willpower the next game.....

Turns out the 1-3-1 CAN be beaten. Who would have thunk it. Penetrate the seams, make good passes, and make the open shot. Play good tough man to man defense and rebound = WIN!!! It can't be this simple can it?

Purdue has a more disciplined PG, makes a big difference. Plus they play much better D than we do. This was probably a must win for Purdue as they have really struggled to beat teams above them in the Big Ten.

They played more man because Purdue shot them out of the zone. And they only had 5 turnovers for the game(I think we had 5 in the first 5 minutes).

Yeah it does but Purdue isn't that much better than we are. This has been Fran's frustration all year long(along with many on this board) to the point where he has said he hasn't seen anything like this in his coaching career. We didn't beat Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minny twice by luck. They are just incredibly inconsistent from game to game. The only thing you can really expect this year is White to bring it every game and Gatens usually does too.

Thats true about consistency but top to bottom Purdue is better. Mainly, Jackson >>>> Cartwright. Our biggest issue against NW was we had nobody who had a clue on how to penetrate the zone

Better yeah, but not much. Definately tougher and that is the key. Yes, Jackson is better than Cartwright and that does make a difference for sure but like you say no one had a clue against it even Marble. Hopefully they will get it figured out before the next time we play Janet Reno(best look a like ever btw).

you forgot one tiny thing, NW shot 43% from three and Shurna had 30 pts, Sobieski only had 12 pts against Purdue, and had a career game against Iowa, that is what gets me the other team has somebody come out of nowhere to have a career game against the Hawks. and i don't consider it lucky to beat Minnesota twice, when neither game was close
