Purdue just plugs and plays competent QBs

They have done this since 1960 when I first started watching them, lots of good qbs.

Their 3rd string qb comes in and leads the late TD drive for the win.

Would you expect Kirk's backup qb to be ready to do that? I would hope but usually our first team QB and all the starters have trouble doing that but Nebby's defense is leaky.

I don't think the question is "ready to do that" or "able to do that".

I think the question is "would be allowed to do that"

And a large part of that question is "depends on if Iowa's defense was a bad as Purdue's defense"

Purdue is going to be dangerous. They will have David Bell who scorched Iowa for 198 yards and Rondale Moore. Plus what ever QB is there.

I know they had some QBs from the 60s to the Tiller era. Over the last 10-15 years, not so much. Painter was their last good QB and that was over a decade ago.

Hope & Hazell didn't have anyone of note. That era was about a decade of being a spoiler at best of times and a doormat for the most part.

Things have been better at that position under Brohm but the team is still 3 games under .500 in his Purdue career and 2 games under .500 in his B1G career.

Yes Hope and Hazell didnt have top people. We have to remember that Purdue had Len Dawson in the mid to late 1950's then Bob Griese and many others. Those first two are or both should be Hall of Famers.

We've been spelling Ferentz for 20 years without an O. It would be strange to begin now.

KF would simply run the ball with a 3rd string QB. This year the 3rd string actually has reps in his career so maybe not. But you get the point. run the ball ...just try to execute...and get a first down in 3 plays....a few times and then punt.

They could be. One never knows.Or they could all get injured and derail their season just like this year. Iowa have some tremendous weapons on the o side as well coming back

Very true. These are young people. Lot can happen. The potential is there for a really dangerous offense.
