PTL Stats Recap, & More...

The best player on every team forces shots tho. When he's on he looks like Kobe and you want him to shoot more. When he's off he looks like a ball hog. One thing I will say about him tho, when he misses a bunch early, he quits shooting. Allot of guys won't do that.

Kobe is a ball hog, regardless if he is making shots or not. He is a huge jerk too.

Are you the same poster who thought the Thunder would be better if they brought in a "true point guard" and moved Westbrook to the two? If so, I think it's obvious you have some ideal image of a point guard in mind and anyone who doesn't fit that should not be playing pg in your opinion. In that case, if Gesell becomes a 15 ppg scorer in a year or two you will probably be calling for him to move to the two because he shoots so much.

A point guard doesn't necessarily have to be a good set up man.

Tony Parker is a better example than Westbrook, not a good set up man but still the best pg in the game, better than Paul who is the best set up man.

Theres different ways to be effective at every spot.

The team does better when Marlbe plays well but Im not sure that Marble playing the point was really the cause of him playing better though. Lesser competition in the nit and being healthy seem to be obvious factors that are being ignored.

We started playing better when Marble came out of his long slump and injuries, it had little to do with him being the point it just happened to play out that way because of Gessel's injury. Both players are inner changeable, and the best player on the team usually handles the ball more often anyhow.

We have a wealth of talent that has been unseen since the days of Lute Olsen, and is frankly exciting to think of all the combinations we can unleash on our opponents this upcoming season. Who starts at point guard or is the better point guard really doesn't matter because on any given night someone in black and gold is fully capable of carrying this team to a win. Having to depend on just one player or two to win a game for us is essentially over, and could make us a real force to be reckoned with in March. I for one cannot wait for this upcoming basketball season. Go Hawks

I beg to differ. George Raveling recruited a LOT of NBA talent. More than any other Hawkeye coach in any three season stretch, but he was not a good bench coach. Tom Davis coached the Raveling recruits to the best finish since the Lute Olson days, but didn't sustain that recruiting level. Raveling had 7 recruits that spent time in the NBA. (Armstrong, Gamble, Horton, Jepsen, Jones, Marble, and Wright)
