Proud to be a Hawk today

I know it's not going to be a popular attitude after that drubbing..... but for the first time in awhile, watching this game at a sportsbar, there was a lot of energy and excitement about the game.

My buddies kids at his house were wearing there Hawkeye gear today...much like they would on a football Saturday...never for a basketball game.


I am speaking as a fan.....not a guy who wants to break down the game like I'm a coach talking x's and o's or evaluate out of bounds plays..... it was a fun day and nice to share the day with fellow Hawk fans and be just that..... a fan.

The team....Fran.... they're all doing a nice job. Hope they get the same support going forward.
Who knows when we will win a conference title or if there will ever be a Final 4 appearance....whatever.
It is just nice to follow something and be excited about it. Probably why I liked Alford. I know I'll get destroyed for that comment- but I loved those Horner/Brunner teams. Every game was an event, something you looked forward too.

Be nice to have this with Fran again!

Just from watching on TV there was a buzz in Carver at the start of a game that was similar to years ago. I hope it continues because I'm very nostalgic for fun Iowa basketball.

I have no problems with this attitude. We were obviously outmatched today, but I thought we went out and competed. I will still be ecstatic if we can get to 15 wins.
 
Very much agree. Thought we played hard and competed. We absolutely made nothing on the offensive end. I really look forward to the next game!
 
Today's game was a huge letdown, particularly the second half, but the team's recent play certainly had me excited again. If the team can bounce back with some more nice wins this game will be forgotten.
 
Agree with OP. We are actually playing real bb now. As opposed to whatever that was that Lackluster was trying to play.
 
I was at the game and the atmosphere was great. I talked with Stick Vidnovic before the game and he was VERY excited w/ the crowd. The game did not turn out well, obviously. There is still a big talent gap between the 2 teams and we played hard...but not well. The Iowa fans are ready for Iowa Basketball to be relevant again. We are not that far away. Flush this game and do better in East Lansing.

not to many tean walk out of Wisconsin and Minnesota with win
and i don't recall many if any saying Iowa was going to win against OSU
the margin of the game was dissapointing but i liked the way the team responds to Fran
next up is @ MSU we shall see how they come out and play
 
Welp sometimes the ball goes in and sometimes it doesnt. I had fun watching today though. Looking forward to the game at MSU. Go Hawks.
 
Today's game was exciting, the outcome wasn't want anyone had hoped for. It shows how far Iowa has to go, but also how far they have come. Carver was full, don't be discouraged, OSU is just that good.
Keep Carver packed and whoever is there will witness some great wins that haven't been seen for a while. There are still a lot of winnable games on the schedule and Iowa has some budding young stars.
It is proud to be a Hawk fan again, I was asked tonight why are you still wearing your Iowa stuff? Duh, why wouldn't I be, aside from the thumping today with a healthy roster Iowa is going to surprise a lot of people.
What is nice about this team, team is key...Basabe played bad against Minnesota and Iowa won, not having to rely on one or two players has been nice. The good thing is most will be back and add the freshman to the mix and Fran is putting together a heck of a program.
My prediction for wins was anywhere around .500, looking at the BIG as a whole, if they don't lose to anyone they aren't supposed to at home the overall record could be better than that. There are a couple of teams I just can't figure out in the BIG, so even more road wins are looking promising.
