Preview & Prediction: No. 3 Ohio State Hawkeyes' Next Challenge

Good write-up Rob.

The one thing I would point out is that the Michigan and PSU games were night games. For whatever reason, the Hawkeyes tend to show up better at night as opposed to late afternoon.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I honestly don't see it that close. I wouldn't be surprised if the Hawks keep it close in the first half playing on adrenaline, but I look for big plays and Dobbins to wear out the defense by the middle of the third. The bend-but-don't-break defensive philosophy can be effective, but really only when the offense can put together long drives to keep the defense from fatiguing, and, from what we've seen, it's hard to believe that our offense will be able to manage the LOS effectively. OSU's defensive line could be playing on Sundays.
 
That's a good point about the night game factor. I still think it will be lit, as the kids say, with a 2:30 start but not the same as under the lights.

I don't feel good about this game at all, which probably means the Hawks will win.
 
With the defense playing as well as it has been, I think we cover. Unfortunately I think OSU's D-line keeps us from running like we want to, forcing us to throw the ball. Barring the defense scoring a TD and the OL having an "on" day, I think we lose by 2 possessions.

If you thought the stretch play wasn’t working this season (it isn’t), wait until this weekend. OSU will blow that up. Iowa simply cannot lineup and exert their will vs OSU. They will need to pass first, run misdirection running plays and have good fortune to not get embarrassed. The talent gap as is usual vs the bucks is cavernous.
 
Iowa needs to be a bully on defense and not be afraid to get Stanley out of the pocket, use the tight ends, and get the freaking ball to Wadley downfield. Put a spy on JT in 3rd and long situations. Freaking hit these guys hard.
 
I think OSU's defense alone will win the game 14-7 and I'm sticking with my prediction from earlier of 41-7.
 
Not to nitpick, but Joey Bosa is a Charger not a Ram.

Iowa won't win this. Beat Nebraska , get to and win their bowl game. Everyone is telling me it is about the process so I got the pom poms out that Wirts/Jackson improve and get better.

I think its going to be ugly...real ugly. Ohio State has outscored their Big Ten opponents this year 52-17.

Iowa's defense can get some stops, but when BF calls a running play up the middle for 1 yard on 1st down, might as well punt it on 2nd down.
 
I have to think we're going to see some things on offense that we haven't to this point. I'm not saying it will be the 3-TE look they sprung on OSU back in '13, but something different. I think it could be Wadley in the slot with Butler in the backfield. I'm hoping they can get the ball to AK in space by throwing it to him.
