Preview, Prediction: Hawkeyes Meet Purdue in Important B1G West Tilt

I saw stanley pucker up even when a DB came down before the snap.. They'll blitz and show blitz all afternoon long. Get in his head. That's how you beat Dr. Jekyll

I think they lose on Saturday and run the table after that. For some reason I kept thinking the NW game was on the road, it's at home, so Iowa will not only win that game, but dominate it. The debate will come after the season, was this 9-3 campaign fulfilling or not?

I don't see how we win this game. Our defense gets exploited, mainly by Rondale Moore because he's too fast. And Stanley looks like dog crap again because he'll be running for his life most of the day. Purdue 30 - Iowa 20

Stanley chokes again and Purdue runs away from Iowa because of Stanley's turnovers.

Purdue 31

Iowa 17

I think I will go to the game anyway.

Well, Iowa is 2-1 in away games. Keep in mind the two wins were Minnesota and Indiana.

Iowa will hold Purdue below their total points average. Good on our defense.

Purdue 24
Iowa 17

I am a little late with my prediction this week but I will do some more research and get back to you guys tomorrow.

We can’t defend Moore and just hints of pressure will rattle Stanley who is completely in his own head now. The Dam breaks and the defense isn’t able to make up for the offense this week.

Purdont: 35
Iowa: 16

Iowa has 4 turnovers.

Yeah, I think other coaching staffs have Stanley's number now. I think the defense holds Purdue under their point average, but still come out on top.

That being said, I hope our offense shows up and plays a great game...I hope.

I think we lose for the same reasons we lost to Wisconsin and PSU. When the moment gets big, they'll fold like a cheap suit. I don't think it will be a blow out but I see us losing by 6-11 points.

We all know that both Purdue and Northwestern are going to come after Stanley, and sell out to do it if required. Will they be as successful at Penn State?

Sacks - National Ranking
#3 Penn State
#47 Purdue
#109 Northwestern

Tackles For Loss
#6 Penn State
#99 Purdue
#108 Northwestern

Passes Defended
#1 Penn State
#36 Purdue
#36 Northwestern

What I am trying to show here is Penn State's defense has been in more backfield's than just Iowa this year, and their coverage has been pretty damn tight as well. Purdue defense is at least average getting into an opponents backfield and at pass coverage, so I'm not saying they can't put that sort of pressure on Stanley.

Another thing to throw in here is Iowa's defense has kept the team in all of Iowa's losses the last two years with the exception of last year's Wisconsin game. So even when Stanley has been rattled, they have still been in all but one game.

From here on out, I doubt if any defense is going to play straight up against Stanley the way Ohio State did last year.

I'd go with the odds makers on this, and put Purdue at a slight advantage and the score in the mid twenties for each team.

If everyone thinks PU will pack the box and blitz often then I hope the coaches if they think this will happen decide to go 4 and 5 wide with Hock and Fant split out. Throw it quick to the open receiver and let them run.

Of course Nate will need to be on with his reads and accurate.

But you cant 8 put in the box and guard 4 or 5 wideouts., impossible

I hate or have to say this but Hayden and Snyder would eat up these defenses

I understand your point, but Penn State was also good at double covering Fant when he was split out. This only changed when Fant was played with his had down in run support than released. I would say, vary things with both Fant and Hock, and even move one or the other before the snap to keep other teams guessing.
