Our opponents have all adopted the same back-handed compliment. If I was a Hawkeye athlete I would be motivated every time an opposing coach called me a "developmental" player.

Yeah, but no more motivated than when your own coach calls you that.
They are the girl with the "great personality". No wait, KF has the great personality.
Truly an ugly duckling team. But then again, that's Iowa football. Woe is us.

As much of a homer as I am I have to accept reality. Iowa will be no better than 6-6 this season. I've heard the new offensive wrinkles and the usual coach speak. I've fallen for that before. One thing I've learned is when Iowa's season is going the way it is KF will do nothing to change it. He'll just ride out the season, make the same excuses and tell us we have some things to work on in the off season. Penn State 34-14. The only thing more certain is the clowns getting beat by OK even though cyfans think "they're due" to beat OK. By the way they've been saying that about K-State for years.

Being able to develop players is a plus , obviously. But, at this point I don't think this staff does that any better than most staffs. How do they do developing receivers? Quarterbacks?
And it IS a strange thing for an opposing coach to say. Not "they're a good team", or "they're playing well", but "she has a great personality / they're a developmental program".

Agree with the above. We have seen a big drop off in players drafted lately. Perception was we'd have a handful every draft, and now we're lucky to get one into the 3rd round (granted, King will probably be a 1st-2nd rounder)
We are treated as a farm system by our staff. They obviously want to win, but only on KF terms. Just complete BS how he went from last year evaluating the entire program, to this year reverting to the old ways. No creativity, no innovation, nothing. Just boring, boring, BORING football. People who pay to go see the team play are seeing nothing more than a glorified scrimmage on our end.
This game will go one of two ways, as nearly every single Hawk game goes
We'll either slow the game down so much that it @#%% with PSU, but they'll still appear to be the more talented team. They'll finish us off in 2nd half 20-7

They just stomp the crap out of us on both sides of the ball. 44-7

Call me optimistic but I'm not sure its a guaranteed loss. Not saying we run away with this one, but I think if we keep their run game in check we have a good shot at stealing one on the road.

This will be the best RB we have faced all year. This kid can pretty much do it all. Don't think for a second PSU isn't going to try and scheme him against our LB/S for quick passes / slants.
David Johnson and UNI scripted that one to perfection, and while UNI didn't beat us, Stanford did the same thing with CM

They're not developing anymore.. That's part of the problem. That, and we're in what year with KF? We shouldn't be a developmental program still, and have to rely on walk ons, and FCS level recruits to develop so we can have a good season.
Why are we a developmental program with one of the highest paid head coaches, highest paid strength coach and supposedly some of the best facilities? At this point, we are making excuses for why the program is a dumpster fire. Let's call a spade a spade -- those in charge of UI athletics has a...cognitive disadvantage.

We are but we do not get much mileage out of it. I mean with Kirk sending so many Olinemen to the Pros in the first round you would think we'd have an occasional 5 star knock on our door and tons of 4 stars. We do get a few 4 stars but not like we should be. I don't have enough fingers and toes to spout out the reasons why this happens.

Pedo State 13
Iowa dominates this series, they have won 8 of the last 11. Going to pedo state does not phase them, white outs do not phase them. I think that this game will go much the way of the 2009 game. The pedophiles may get a few big plays in but, but Iowa recovers and does what it takes to wins. Iowa's defense will play strong making the pedophiles very inconsistent. There may even be a special teams of defensive score again.
