Using your criteria and reasoning from this and the other 'Pretenders' thread, I can't find a team anywhere that qualifies as a contender. I guess there aren't any this year.

It's pretty cool that Iowa single handily eliminated 2 contenders. They did it so early in the year that they don't get enough credit for it. But if MSU would have swept iowa they might be number 1 in the nation still. If Purdue swept Iowa they would be top 10 and still playing for a 1 seed. Those are 2 really good teams we swept.

When they lost does not matter, the point is every team ranked in the top ten has losses. Many have losses worse than Iowas

Take one look at the Wisky game tonight and say no more. Steve is a genius once more.

To ensure themselves a 'lock down' #1 seed in the BTT or NCAAs, Iowa needs to take a game like this.

And for good measure, defeat, say a Minnesota, by about 35+ points tomorrow.

Can't strut in the rarefied air if you're gonna puss-out by being happy with "close is OK' on the road against top level talent.

I assume he wanted to know to see if their bad loses happened early. It doesn't matter so much for the arguement the op made but it does matter a little. I'm glad our loses to ND and Dayton came early as opposed to recently. It means our team is on more of a roll.
