Prediction: Iowa in Holiday Bowl

There was a report, earlier this week, that the Holiday Bowl wanted to select Iowa, bypassing Northwestern and Michigan State, presumably.
In that report, it said that Jim Delany was considering lobbying the Holiday Bowl not to take Iowa and take Northwestern, instead.

Per Teddy Greenstein, Chicago Tribute writer, who is one of the handful of media personnel truly in touch with the B1G) said about 6 hours, Teddy said that Jim Delany did NOT call the Holiday Bowl to lobby for 9-3 Northwestern over 7-5 Iowa.
"The bowls pick who they want within the, mainly 5 teams in 6 year framework."

Gary Barta, on whether Delany called a bowl to lobby for/against another team, and his answer was "My answer, I'm certain it's no. He doesn't do that. If he did, I wouldn't be aware of it. I'm confident that he's not going that."

Looks like San Diego, Hawkeye fans.

Translation: another Stanford beat down.

I was at the 1995 Sun Bowl vs Washington, and thought the same thing pre-game, but, then again, we had Tim Dwight, Sedrick Shaw and Jared DeVries, back then.

USA Today has Wisky out of CFP, but still has Iowa in Holiday vs. Arizona. Also has ISU vs. a very tough North Texas team. Seeing elsewhere Iowa vs. Kentucky in Music City in 2 different places, Iowa vs. Washington St. in the Foster Farms Bowl, and Iowa vs. Louisville in the Pinstripe.

I'll tell you where I think we'll go tomorrow. I'll know more then.

A lot could depend on if Alabama or Ohio State is in the playoffs. If they take Alabama that could create a trickle down effect on the B10 bowl games putting Iowa in the Music City Bowl.

No quote has ever descried Gary Barta better than, "I wouldn't be aware of it". He is aware of very little in general.

San Diego is a better choice than NY or Nashville. The fact that Nashville is a day's drive from Iowa City makes it attractive to a lot of fans though.

Iowa doesn't deserve the Holiday and I appreciate Delaney's integrity to (allegedly) lobby for NwU - the more deserving team. Not to mention, Iowa would get crushed by whatever PAC12 team it faced in that level of bowl.

As a competitor, I always want to play the best team possible. The Holiday Bowl is the far better bowl. To be the best, you got to beat the best.

A year like this year id much rather see Iowa play a team more at their level. Iowa's reputation is that their fans will travel and their tv ratings will be solid so Iowa usually gets thrown up against teams who had better seasons than them.

This year id rather see a lesser bowl with a more beatable opponent. Maybe vs Kentucky...just not louisville

With Ohio State not making the playoffs, it now feels like the following:
Probably, Outback - Sparty
Holiday - Michigan
Music City - Northwestern, as they will have Kentucky to fill seats.
Pinstripe - Iowa
