Practice Schedule

Much has been made about Iowa's new practice schedule this year implemented back in August.

One thing Iowa changed is to move practices to the early morning but that change is not unique to college football.

The other change is Iowa has implemented is a revolutionary idea that no other team has tried, moving the off day from early in the week to Thursday. Players don't practice at all on Thursday, then start to get amped up on Friday so that they are peaking on Saturday. This is one theory why Iowa has been so strong in finishing games in the 4Q.

So the question is how much will the short week mess up Iowa's mojo. Does anybody know how Iowa will handle the off day this week? Will the players even get an off day?

Is the university allowed to practice on a federal holiday? Not being sad casting just really don't know the rules

Thursday is the travel day so they won't take it off. I'm assuming KF has just went back to the routine he has used in the past for this week. The off day for the players this week will be Saturday. But unlike years past they will be back at it Sunday to get ready for the B1G title game the following week.

I liked it better from 2005 to 2008 and then 2010-2014 when the Hawekeyes would look hung over and would kinda sleepwalk through half the game. The whole team would just look low energy, barely even jogging through the motions of the game. It made for some close games.

My guess is that everything is moved up one day. So Wednesday will be the day off, Thursday morning will be a full practice and then they'll load up the buses and head out late Thursday afternoon for Lincoln.

took me a while to google who Eickhorst is. Remind me again what he said.

Shawn Eickhorst is NObraska's AD. He's the arrogant basturd that fired Bo Pelini last year and threw some mud at Iowa in the process. I've linked the transcript of that press conference below. The parts of interest about Iowa are near the bottom in the last three sections.

I'm quite certain that Ferentz has had 11/27/15 circled on his calendar ever since then. He has said numerous times that the NObraska loss hasn't sat well with him.

I feel very confident that we will win this game. An Iowa victory will give "Black Friday" a whole new meaning for Hawkeye fans.

Do you ever post anything positive? All your posts are negative!

Looks like he was just stating the obvious at the time..Barta and ferentz both would admit to the same evaluation of our program a year ago...obviously with the changes KF made its different now. The statement in and of itself shouldn't have been taken personally.

You think the man responsible for the Iowa program over the past 17 years, isn't going to take that comment personally? I took it personally! Why wouldn't KF?
