Potential Presser Questions

Let me start by saying I expect the same vanilla presser this week and as much as I'd like to see the media ask more than softball questions I know it's not reality.

However if I were in the room I would feel these are the questions I would ask;

1. During the last 2 minutes of the first half there seemed to be uncertainty on your strategy. It first appeared you were playing to get the ball back when you called a timeout with your defense on the field. You then chose not to stop the clock before Purdue punted allowing them to run the clock to under a minute. (Seemingly conceding the rest of the half). Then when the offense got the ball you took another timeout in what appeared to be an attempt to try to score again. Can you walk us through your rationale of the last two minutes of that first half?

2. The last play of the first half you took a knee with 5 seconds left. Can you share your thoughts as to why you prefered to take a knee going into the half rather than make one more attempt?

3. Can you clarify the statement you made at the end of the game regarding the last TD play? It's unclear if you are you upset at the touchdown itself, the play called, or the execution of the play.

4. The handshake between you and coach Hazell at the end of the game appeared to be longer than other handshakes. What was said during the exchange? Did you apologize to Coach Hazell?

I know... keep dreaming.

Coach, how do you feel about answering questions posed to you from excellent coaches on HawkeyeNation.com? As a follow up, would you consider any of these out of work coaches for a position on your staff?

Eda-

Please tell me which question is out of bounds and unreasonable. Are these not things most fans are interested it? Nothing in these questions is accusatory or suggest the person asking them could do the job better.

But please continue to belittle people and stifle them from wanting to engage in any form of actual discussion on this "discussion" board.

Now that you've shown the Hawks can indeed score in the second half, and especially the 4th quarter, would you care to explain the first half this week? Also, is there any chance of seeing a whole game's worth of good football or are we going to continue to get no more that 3 quarters?

If you don't have serious concerns about some of the moves that Kirk makes, or doesn't make, then your knowledge of football isn't that great. He does some WEIRD *** things out there as far as clock management and moves during the game goes. I swear that sometimes he's just doing it to spite all of us, because some of the stuff he does is just bizarre and does not make sense whatsoever. You can keep blindly following Kirk without questioning anything he does, but some of us would like to see the same mistakes that keep happening over and over again be shored up. I don't think it's too much to ask.

Coach...How does it feel to win a Big 10 road game by 24 and still not do anything right?

I'll admit that there are shortcomings with Ferentz...but some will never be happy with him at this point unless he is 12-0. And even then some would complain if there were any play calls that didn't work out or any decisions that could be second guess.

Excellent questions, all. Which is why Iowa's sports media won't ask them.

Coach, if the United States suddenly outlawed bubble gum, what would you replace it with during the game?

chewing tobacco, sunflower seeds, erasers, that end of that pen you use to write down notes with, grass or the ground up rubber from the field depending on the playing surface? Other?

Here is how they'll be actually asked

1. During the last 2 minutes of the first half there seemed to be uncertainty on your strategy. It first appeared you were playing to get the ball back when you called a timeout with your defense on the field. End of the 2nd quarter there..where you just.....

2. The last play of the first half you took a knee with 5 seconds left. Can you share your thoughts as to why you prefered to take a knee going into the half rather than make one more attempt? (adressed above)

3. Can you clarify the statement you made at the end of the game regarding the last TD play? It's unclear if you are you upset at the touchdown itself, the play called, or the execution of the play. Bethard's touch down was a read option ....

4. The handshake between you and coach Hazell at the end of the game appeared to be longer than other handshakes. What was said during the exchange? Did you apologize to Coach Hazell?

Kirk how hurtful is name calling?

This coming from Mr. Drama Queen himself who continually calls me a nurse because he has nothing of substance to respond with. I always see you call people out for name-calling when you do the same thing routinely. By the way, just because I'm a male who works in healthcare does not mean I'm a nurse. Since you seem to care I have a degree in Radiation Science and I manage a Radiology Department (almost done with my Masters in Healthcare Admin).

Although if I was a male nurse there would be nothing wrong with that. I take offense when someone makes a rude, idiotic, and downright stereotypical comment like that. I know several very good male nurses who are probably better off than you. None of them are gay either if that's what you're inferring. Not to mention the fact they impact other people's lives in an incredibly positive manner. They are individuals who prefer to build people up instead of tear them down. Which seems to be the opposite of the way you choose to operate, and hence the reason we routinely disagree.

what's it matter? if he were asked these questions, and then he answered them, would you then stop the endless negativity that you and others continuously spew on this website? i'll answer the question for you: no, it wouldn't.

so then why do you constantly need to get your pound of flesh from this man, especially after a win? the post game of the NW and Purdue games are amusing, at best.
