Possible Position Changes for 2016

I saw an article on possible position changes for 2016 and wonder if there's any teeth/substance to it. Here are the following 5 players mentioned:

Jonathan Parker, WR to CB
Andre Harris, WR to RB
Marcel Joly, RB to CB
Matt Nelson, DE to TE
Drew Cook, QB to TE

Parker, Harris and Joly have speed to burn and don't know how buried they are on the depth chart at WR and RB.

I found this article very interesting. I know Derrick Mitchell, Jr. has benefitted from this switch this past season, but wouldn't the player have to be convinced of the switch before of maybe leaving the team for greener pastures.

I know we need depth at these positions because we've really missed some players in past recruiting classes.

Any thought?

Link?

Matt Nelson to TE seems highly improbable to me. He's gonna be a starter at DE if Ott doesn't come back. I think the TE depth is better than the DE depth. Especially if they are moving Cook there (which I think is only a matter of time). I'd be interested to read this article if it's from a credible source.

* I think we need Parker's speed on the field. If that means at cb, then ok. But I think we're pretty deep at cb. I believe JP played as a true FR, so he could RS next season. He could also be a candidate for xfer after spring ball.
* Nelson to TE: I thought he was progressing at DE. Unless we have some DE's ready to step in (Perhaps this makes sense if Ott gets the medical waiver) then I think Nelson should stay at DE. We've got plenty of TE's coming in.
* Cook to TE: This is almost just obvious, to me. It's logical and probably the right thing to do.
* Joly to cb: This probably speaks to the rb depth we have and we could use this kids speed. But, see JP. Potential xfer candidate, in my opinion.
* Harris to rb: No real thoughts on this one, other than we will be pretty deep at rb. Potential xfer candidate.

Interesting. Can't see Nelson switching, even if Ott returns. DE is one of the few ?? On D next year. He needs to live in the weight room and training table and work on burst. Both he and Hesse could be massively improved next year if they grow and develop.

Cannot see Nelson moving to TE. Either Nelson as a matter of fact. We have plenty of TE's.

I expect Parker to transfer. Excellent speed but not seeing the field anytime too soon. Does not strike me as a CB either. What I noticed most about Parker is he seems to dislike contact. When running the jet sweep in the past there were ample opportunities to cut it up the hash to make some yards but he insisted on taking to the boundary for little gain but less contact. Combine that with the bowl game kick off lateral and that lands you way down the depth chart.

I was thinking CJ Beathard could move to tight end to develop his game for the NFL. He has the frame and the movement and can run the routes. I just hope his ego doesn't get in the way of doing whats best for the team.

I wonder if OP meant Anthony Nelson moving to TE. I can't imagine that the staff would move Matt Nelson to TE.

I read it on another Hawkeye website giving a reason for each player that was mentioned. I believe it was Black Heart Gold Pants.

Interesting. I like Parker being a Percy Harvin type. I just wish we'd have found more room for him to get some touches. It got predictable that when he was in the game that the jet sweep or a fake off of it was what was going to be ran... I'd like to see him on some play action routes with him in the slot or screen passes. Find some creative ways to get him in space. That jet sweep is nice but no need to over use it and get predictable with it. Maybe they can find 3 to 5 touches a game for him next yr if he stays at what he is.

I think Joly was a cb when he first came wasn't he? He seems like he's a guy without a spot.

Nelson isn't moving to TE.... But if he is he must be dang good. Cause with or without Ott he was going to play a lot. Having a 6'7 TE wouldn't hurt and speaking of tall TEs... Cook may as well for the betterment of himself and team should move now too. Between Boyle, Wiegers and Stanley coming in next yr he's the odd man out I think..

Is Outsey staying at TE? He played quite a bit I thought and with only he and Kittle coming back with having played much I imagine it's between him and Wiesnewski for the #2 spot.

You are wrong. Beathard is being moved to safety!
