Positives Going Forward

Just got back from the game tonight. Tough tough loss to stomach. I was so distraught leaving that game but couldn't stop thinking of the positives I saw on the walk back to my dorm.

Positives:

1. Basabe had another great game and another double double. the concern with him was that he wasn't getting these great performances on a consistent basis, but he proved that wrong tonight. With another 15 lbs. or so i think he will be a beast next year.
2. Gatens struggled tonight but got to the line when it mattered. It really showed his awareness and showed him playing to his strengths getting to the line there towards the end of regulation.
3. May played tremendous D on Taylor. Yes he still scored but a player that good is going to get his. I think in the first half May really disrupted him out front and thus Wisconsin couldnt get into their offense as they planned. great move by fran sticking May on Taylor
4. Marble played aggressive and got to the bucket. I swear everytime he is fouled while shooting it goes in no matter how crazy the shot is. Still needs to improve the FT shooting but I'm excited about his potential.
5. Brommer did a decent job on D and got some buckets. Really played within himself and didnt have one of his patented hip checks 40 ft. from the hoop.
6. Cartwright continues to impress me night in and night out. Led the team tonight with 14 points. Had a few dumb turnovers but he hit some clutch shots to make up for them. He is by far this teams MVP this year.
7. Cole was tremendous on the glass tonight and had some huge buckets. He needs to work on fixing those stone hands, as he had some costly turnovers down the stretch. I think he is finally playing like a leader on the floor and the team feeds off it.

Negatives
1. McCabe didn't have his best game. I'm wondering what he brings to the table on offense right now. He doesnt shoot unless he's wide open, and every time he takes it to the rack he gets stuffed of gets called for the charge. I hope it's just a freshman wall because we need him contributing like he did earlier in the year in the non conference.

Im probably forgetting stuff but thats it for now. Overall a great effort by the Hawks. Let's get carver rocking again on Sunday and beat the goofers!
