First of all, how about the Gophers beating Purdue!

Agree, no way Ferentz doesn’t play Stanley - a “good guy” and a senior.

If Manaell leaves, it will be for a team in Texas where his fiancé lives. We could sure use him in Minny, but Ferentz would just block him like he did Boyle and Wiegers.

What year is Peyton? How many games has golden boy super recruit Spencer played in? How great is the next kid in the pipeline? What makes us think these backups are in the Banks or Stanzi backup mold and not the countless other backup quaterbacks who are just the same as or worse than the struggling starter?

Are we sure Nate isn't injured? Is it one of those weird things where we hope in the back of our minds that his hand is injured because he shouldn't really be playing this bad?

The freshman QB is supposed to be the one with the most upside. He broke a bunch of Jared Goff's high school records. He's got the size and arm.

Manzel looks decent and reminds me of Tate, but the true freshman I think will be the guy when Stanley is gone.

Anyone that says Ferentz won't bench Stanley because he's a senior has a short memory. Does the name Jake Rudock ring a bell?

The problem there is Beathard was a known talent. We have no idea what the backups have to offer because they don't have much experience. Beathard had played before when the decision was made on who would be the QB.

Mansell has been in the program almost two years now and is a RS- Freshman.

Not sure we have our backups ready to go. Other teams do. Look no further than west on 80 and north on 35. If there was ever a time to insert Mansell into a meaningful game it would have been during the Pedo game especially after Stanley's injury.

Mansell was a Davis recruit. Petras was a big get for KOK.

Petras has the big arm and size. Safe to say not as mobile as Mansell. Kirk's kind of guy.

I wish Mansell well down south. Could turn out to be a good college QB. I suspect we will never know.

If he can play, he'll transfer. Loyalty with quarterbacks in 2018 is completely old-fashioned and misplaced. Good quarterbacks just aren't going to "wait their turn" behind guys who they think are inferior.

There needs to be an open competition. If anything I could see Petras being the one that rises up and not Mansell.

Well, might as well try them out since the season is going no where fast. Nate isn't injured, he just isn't a good QB.

Stanley hasn't been great, or even good lately for that matter. However, I don't think the offensive woes fall squarely on his shoulders. The coaches are not putting these guys in a position to win.

The coaches will look at the tape and consider what happened this season and they'll conclude that Nate S has all the tangibles. And they'll recognize that he does not possess the intangibles, that this O was lacking leadership, that they need someone who can make plays.

Then the next QBs will mabe get an even chance to compete. Nate will have to absolutely dominate in an open competition. Does that remind you of 2014
