Because it's been so long since you've taken a math test, and you loved math class as much as you love Iowa's offense....

Today BF was worse, first 2 drives and a few calls in the 2nd notwithstanding....overall though, even with the WTF moments, i still think BF is better. Sure feels like the passing game is better anyway.

GD benefited from much better line play and running game.

It's strange, we've always been able to run the ball effectively (except '04). Even against stacked boxes.

While I believe we run way too often on 1st and 2nd into said stacked lines...i still believe lack of Oline experience(namely tackles) and not having a traditional "power back" option to go along with AW....is at least a big piece of why were are seeing the struggles.

Pass more...a lot more. And do it pronto.

I have to give the nod that BF because GD was so bad and for exactly what Walker said, seems like the passing game is better or at least attempts to be vertical. But they don’t do it enough particularly in running situations.

I would like to see Iowa come out and pass 20 straight plays next week...short, seem, wr screen, TE stick, middle RB screen, deep post, wheelroutes, quick slants, crossing routes, hard play action...Make them back the F up!.

Then, for the first run play...a fake pass to draw.

No, not kidding.

Under BF so far (7 games):

Total Offense: 103rd
Scoring Offense: 81st
Passing Offense: 71st
Rushing Offense: 102nd

5 years under Greg Davis:

Total Offense: 92.2nd
Scoring Offense: 82.4nd
Passing Offense: 92nd
Rushing Offense: 66.8th

So what is your definition of running effectively since you think 04 was the only fail?

Almost every year until this one.

It's raining...so I looked it up.
This site is so glitchy I quick doing a year by year analysis. You picked the worst. However to me anything below 130 yds per game is pretty non effective He's had a number of those years.

Ironically a solid running game doesn't match stellar years in correlation. Bad year rushing years don't correlate with bad years rushing either.

Solid gambling QB styles do correlate. He needs a QB to be unpredictable.

For KF analysis only, I'd say that QB position is why Iowa isn't doing so well this year. I think Stanley is a good enough QB. I think he fits what KF wants. I don't think he fits what KF needs. 09 and 04 were terrible rushing years.

So GD had Two NFL QBs and averaged 92nd in passing offense. That's worse than the current situation. Now at least we are 71st passing. The drop in rushing offense has to be on the run blocking, in other words poor execution. The only consistently decent guy we have run blocking is probably Welsh. Daniels might be a better guard. We are starting two freshman at tackle for the first time under Ferentz. The pass blocking is OK but there were times Stanley got sacked with only 4 rushing.

I'm not sure what all that means. But we need more passing or more effective running This year. The passing game is better, the oline and running fame is worse(for many reasons). It can be either/or...i don't much care, but we should certainly stop running AW into the line so much.

Different type of offense but about the same when it comes to scoring points so for now I’m going with equals.

The most puzzling part is the rushing attack. Even when we had Butler, never really felt like we could line up and get 2-3 yards when we need it or open holes on a consistent basis.

Serious or just being funny?

Serious, we are a 25% better passing team statistically so far under BF ( and KOK) than GD. Under GD, you absolutely must have a running QB because the chance a pass play actually works as designed is minimal. It's one step removed from playground football. That's why uninjured CJ 2015 was our only decent year under GD. Stanley would have been terrible, worse than 92nd under GD.
