Podcast from team out west

Just listening to the CF Iowa game podcast with Jeff Woody because I just like to hear what they're saying about us. Actually it wasn't that bad. A good portion was about Iowa. Here are the cliffnotes;
  • Eppy will be a 1st round draft pick, probably next year. He almost guarantees it.
  • A. Nelson and M. Nelson will also probably be top 3 rounders.
  • Phil Parker made really good adjustments after the 1st drive. They went into the best possible look for ISU to run the ball but they were unable to do it.
  • This will be the best defensive line they face all year, including Oklahoma.
  • They were critical of the Iowa play-calling. Particularly the series where ISU shanked the punt and Iowa tried to go endzone to Fant the 1st play. The Fant play was fine, should have been interference, but Woody didn't like the jet sweep read option Nate Stanley keeper and the 3rd down play. He thought we should stick more to running the ball and play-action to the TE. We should be better on offense with the NFL potential of our TEs and QB, and we will always have one of the better OLs.

Every single person on this board has said that ad nauseum, and the fans that hate us the most are now even coming out and giving our ridiculous OC good advice that he won't take.

The play call that most got me was in first half, maybe before our first fg, 1st down run by Young from about the 20 got 6 yards, 2nd down play call was a bozo pass call where stanley threw into traffic on a 2 yard route. Stanley wasnt hurried as I saw on replay later so just a bad call and execution if that was the primary receiver.

My gripe is gain 6 on 1st down run then get into formation and snap it and run it right at them and try to get the 1st down or 3rd and short. Higher percentage play the way our passing game is going and if you have 3rd and 1 you should have all kinds of options.

Give me a waggle all day long there.

yes with run pass option, you know that might be a situation to put mansell in for upcoming games and give the defenses something else to think about. good idea

Didn’t Lightfoot do that, too? He was on the 2002 OL with Steinbach and Gallery, Porter and Nelson...? I could be wrong on that one.

Saying that we should stick to our predictable offense of runs and play action is in direct contradiction to what I believed you were beating the war drum about.

I am too lazy to go comb through old posts so be honest. Haven't you complained about our predictable offense?

All I'm saying is the guy appears to be trying to make our attack less obvious. They may just be shitty calls or maybe it is poor execution. Once the offense finally starts humming then it may be easier to tell the difference.

I don’t know how you took what I said, but it sure as hell wasnt that we should keep doing the vanilla up the gut on 3rd and 9 garbage Brain keeps calling.

Lol ya a QB option is a vanilla play. Sure it was executed like it had never been practiced. It is also a little laughable of a call considering we have a lumbering 6'5 QB. However it was anything but usual. Our usual vanilla would have been a 5 yard hitch route with a throw into the dirt.

Do you have to lol about most everything? lol. Insecure?

I was hoping we would at least have Eppy for next year but I suppose another 1st rounder in the league won't hurt.

But maybe, must maybe we could get Fant and Eppy both to stay for 1 more year with a chance to hopefully do something special as it seems next year might be that year of opportunity.

Oh, I think Eppy will stay for his JR year, next year. Isn't that a rule? Anyway, I meant he may go pro after next year.

Eppy will be an every down player next year. He seems very humble. I know the lure of the NFL is great, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay for four years.

I scoff at a lot of comments on these boards. Therefore my lol gets used a lot. Maybe you prefer demeaning and debasing commentary instead.
dude. Are you serious about that question? LLLOL.

Oh, I see it wasn’t a question. lol
