Poaching the State of NE for Recruits

As a current Omaha resident, I find it interesting how much success Iowa has had recently with players from the state of Nebraska who go unnoticed by the hometown Huskers.

This year's contributors alone:
Cole Fisher (Omaha, NE)
Drew Ott (Trumbull, NE)
Nathan Bazata (Howells, NE)

2016:
2nd best recruit in our current class:
Noah Fant (Omaha, NE) - offers from Nebraska, UCLA, Cal, Vanderbilt, Arizona State, Minnesota, Wyoming

I watch HS games around the Omaha area time and again and there is A LOT of under-recruited talent that I think Iowa should CONTINUE take advantage of....because Nebraska clearly isn't. Just an interesting thought on how our coaching staff has been really good at poaching talent that goes unnoticed even by the teams located in their own backyard.

I wouldn't say they went "unnoticed". I would say they weren't as high up on the NE board as other candidates they were pursuing. Ott and Bazata were offered walk-on opportunities by NE.

I wouldn't count Fant out of play as some report he's still being courted by NE.

Yeah I agree with that. NE recruits a lot more nationally than we do. But it's always nice when we find underrated guys within a 250 mile radius
