... I have this sinking feeling like I am going to say at some point tomorrow, "unbelievable... he did what?" And then begin to bang my head on the table until I realize I haven't cared about Iowa bball for the past year, what's another.

Please people, tell me I'm wrong and just being paranoid.

Um your wrong... I heard from my friends, brothers, girlfriends, mom who is dating a janitor at the University, who once cleaned Barta's office, that Lickliter will be resigning due to a scandal that he once took a bottle of water from the University without paying for it.
 
I really don't think that Barta will have a change of heart. I just think that too much has happened for him to backtrack now. If he did, all the pressure would fall on him and they would both be gone next year if the experiment failed. I just think GB does not want to leave Coach blowing in the wind. JMHO I hope he is just moving the process forward to hire a new head coach.
 
I think the most telling thing is what has NOT been said. Pollard came out and said Mac is coming back next year. Everything I have heard from Barta in the last week makes no mention of Lick. As far as PR goes, you don't have a casual ommission of something this big.
 
I am literally going to be sick to my stomach if I have to watch Licklter Basketball for another year. Delaying the inevitable and having no hope of significant improvement will make for another long winter in 2010-11.

We are losing thousands of future fans and donors while people stick their head in the sand...

I really hate where this is going....
 
Lick would be a dead coach walking all of next year, barta knows that and cannot possibly want that. Season ticket sales will plummet even more...this would be the most deflating news on Iowa bb since that shot went in vs NW St in 06. Want to put a put a program on life-support into cardiac arrest?....do the unthinkable and bring him back. Barta is smarter than that. If he waits and then does it next year,he looks real bad. Hang in there, Barta needs to get all the ducks in a row.
 
I too have had the same thoughts. Should be interesting, but I'm not expecting any relevant info. to come out anytime soon.
 
I imagine more "rumors" are going to start flying. Should be another interesting day.

I still find it hard to believe that Lickliter is going to be brought back next year after everything that's happened the past few days, along with Gary Barta's silence on the matter.

If Lickliter is retained, that might be an even bigger story than if he is fired. That could very well be the most controversial and unpopular decision in the history of Iowa athletics. If someone can think of something bigger, it's something I'm forgetting or was before my lifetime.

I think this is further along then you think, and we will get news today, if they meet today. Barta cannot continue to let it dangle in the wind.

Are we completely sure that KCRG/Gazette's report that the Barta/Lickliter meeting today is true?

Knowing that if they meet today, the result of the meeting will spread like wildfire today, and either way the outcome all this news will completely overshadow the NCAA pairings for the women- which Iowa is going to be part of. Just doesn't seem like a wise idea.

But this entire drama the past 4-5 days has been surreal anyways so nothing surprises me anymore.

Unless Barta already is confident that an existing coach will take an offer, I doubt he'll let Lick go. That happened with Alford. Barta started the search after Alford and then had to scramble to find a coach.

IMHO Barta is not going to go coach searching with Lick still as the coach, today or tomorrow we will learn if Lick is gone or not.

You won't hear anything today, especially when the womens bracket is revealed, and Iowa, ISU and UNI are all going to get bids. Barta isn't going to **** on Bluders team.

At least the name "Todd Lickliter" and "NCAA tournament" will be within the same conversation for the first time since he's been here.
